Alphanumeric is hiring a Equipment Engineer, Product Development Modularization to work in Lake Mary, FL with an environmental-friendly energy innovator focused on sustainability. 12 Month Contract with potential for direct hire Hourly Pay Range: $47.70 to $62.10 This position is responsible for developing mechanical system design packages for gas turbine auxiliary mechanical equipment, working with outside vendors to fabricate the specified equipment and ensuring that the supplied equipment packages meet code, contract and schedule requirements for power projects in North and South America. The focus for this position will be modularization of GT equipment (Primarily the GT Enclosure). The mechanical systems engineering group is responsible for the following major systems: • GT Modular Enclosures • Lube Oil Unit & Oil Mist Separator • Compressor Blade Washing Unit • Heat Exchangers, Including the Turbine Air Cooler, Fuel Gas Heater, FG Dew Point Heater • Fuel Gas Conditioning Equipment (Filter/Separators, Scrubbers, Filters) • Fire Fighting Systems DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES o Interpret P&IDs and other technical material to develop system interface requirements o Prepare supporting calculations needed to ensure proper sizing of equipment o Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for mechanical equipment o Provide technical evaluation and recommendation of vendor o Review of vendor designs to ensure compliance with code, contract and internal requirements o Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets requirements o Technical qualification of vendors o Specification and analysis of test results o Development of standard drawings and specifications o Development of design improvements o Develop and Adhere to schedule for engineering deliverables o Meet regularly with vendors to ensure all technical and schedule requirements are being met o Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customer, vendors and field personnel o Interpret and integrate design requirements from parent company o Establish processes and procedures that will ensure an effective and optimized use of resources while providing high quality design packages o Develop concepts to reduce system costs o Ensure that code requirements are correctly defined and incorporated into the system design and reflected as vendor requirements o Provide regular status updates to management o Interpret end customer contract technical requirements and ensure incorporation into the system design. o Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality o Preparation of correspondence to vendors and other engineering groups OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Demonstrate leadership ability and provide direction to peers and lower level engineers. • Mentor lower level engineers and be willing to transfer knowhow • Generate ideas for product development. • Proactively improve tools, processes and procedures of the Engineering team. • Willing and able to work in a multi-cultural environment. • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees. • Travel 5% - 20%. Job Requirements Education and/or Experience: Bachelor Degree in Engineering required. Masters is a plus but not required. Minimum eight (8) years of technical experience required. Preference is experience with structure fabrication/manufacturing and/or skid fabrication/manufacturing. Power Plant, Japan-related or other International business experience is a plus but not required. Background Preference: The preferred type of engineer for this position will come from a fabrication shop for skid manufacturing or an EPC company. Experience with modular design and/or skid/packaged equipment manufacturing experience being the most desired. Outside of having manufacturing experience, experience with specifying rotating equipment and/or packaged equipment is beneficial.
