Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management: Manage a team of prepress technicians and programmers who also have some data processing duties, providing guidance and oversight for both prepress and data-related tasks. Mentor and train team members on the latest software tools, data integration methods, and best practices for print, email, and SMS production. Ensure project deadlines are met by managing the workflow and allocation of resources effectively across prepress processing team. Prepress Operations (Hands-On): Actively participate in the preparation and modification of digital files, ensuring they are optimized for print and marketing channels. Perform preflight checks, impositions, color corrections, and ensure that files meet technical specifications for variable data printing (VDP) and digital print production. Troubleshoot and resolve file issues related to layout, color, format, or VDP complexities. Oversee the integration of variable data into print files, ensuring accuracy and proper formatting for personalized print campaigns. Data Processing for Print & Digital Marketing Campaigns: Data Management: Handle and process customer data files (including mailing lists, variable data, and digital marketing lists) to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Mailing Data Processing: Leveraging automated workflows, prepare, cleanse, and format data files for direct mail campaigns, including data merges, deduplication, postal presort, and NCOA (National Change of Address) updates. Multi-Channel Campaigns: Manage data workflows for multi-channel marketing campaigns, ensuring seamless integration of customer data into print, mail, email, SMS, and other personalized communication channels. Use specialized software for data processing (e.g., Quadient Inspire, BCC Mail Manager, FirstLogic Dat Quality IQ suite, or similar platforms) to automate and streamline data workflows for both print and digital marketing. Production Support: Collaborate with the production team to ensure prepress files and data are processed accurately and efficiently. Assist in production tasks such as proofing, file RIPing, and the preparation of materials for printing and mailing. Work closely with digital marketing teams to ensure proper data integration and formatting for email and SMS campaigns. Process Optimization & Automation: Collaborate on the development and implementation of automated workflows for both prepress and data processing to streamline file preparation and data handling. Utilize scripting tools, software automation, and other technologies to reduce errors and improve efficiency in both prepress and data processing tasks. Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with internal teams, including client services, production, and data processing, to ensure clear communication of project requirements. Collaborate with internal and external vendors and clients to resolve complex file or data-related issues for both print and digital marketing projects. Quality Control & Compliance: Perform quality checks on all prepress files and data sets, ensuring accuracy in layout, data integration, and compliance with print specifications and postal regulations. Ensure all data processing follows industry regulations for consumer privacy and CAN-SPAM for digital marketing campaigns. Develop and oversee the use of AI or automation to streamline the quality control process. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in management information systems (MIS), data science, graphic arts, print management, or a related field; or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of experience in prepress operations, data processing for print, direct mail, and email with at least 2 years in a leadership role . Proficiency in prepress and customer communication management software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Quadient Inspire, Solimar Rubika) and data processing tools (e.g., BCC Mail Manager, Quadient Inspire, FirstLogic Data Quality IQ Suite). Strong knowledge of variable data printing (VDP), postal regulations, direct mail, and email production. Experience in digital marketing data integration, including email and SMS personalization. Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Switch, Python, JavaScript) for workflow and data processing automation is a plus. Ability to troubleshoot complex data and file-related issues in both print and digital campaigns. Key Competencies: Leadership and hands-on technical skills in both prepress and data processing. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage complex data sets and ensure accuracy. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work across departments and with internal and external clients and vendors. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Proactive in improving processes and implementing automation solutions.
