Drew University is seeking a Building Engineer in the Facilities Department . This is a full-time, 40-hour a week position that would work third-shift, overnight. Qualified applicants need to be familiar with a variety of trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, as well as road and sidewalk maintenance, such as pothole repair and line striping. Candidates should possess a skill set that can diagnose, repair and replace common building system components and issues. This includes common facilities maintenance issues such, but not limited to, performing minor preventative maintenance on HVAC systems; replacing faucets, sinks and toilets; cutting and installing ceiling tiles; patching and painting drywall and plaster walls and ceilings; repairing carpet tile and flooring; and replacing lamps, ballasts and emergency ballasts. Key Responsibilities: Maintains the physical operation of the University's buildings and building systems including mechanical, electrical, life safety, plumbing, building envelope, and access systems. Performs building, building component, building system, and equipment corrective repairs. Coordinate and inspect work performed by outside contractors. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repairs. Manages tools and material, parts, and supply inventory levels, notifies leadership when inventory levels are low with the appropriate amount of lead time to keep operations running and ensure work is completed on time. Processes and completes paperwork including, but not limited to, work orders, inventory documents, and preventative maintenance forms. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and work order processes, including opening, updating and closing work orders. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED 3 - 5 years' experience in a Trades field. Able to communicate through computer email, telephone, two-way radio systems and cell phone. Able to work a rotating on call schedule and after-hours emergency response. Able to work some overtime and holiday coverage when scheduled. Normal mobility to move throughout campus and around campus buildings. Able to bend, stoop, twist, climb up and down ladders. Able to lift and carry 50 pounds, including up and down stairs. Strong English written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required. The employee is subject to outside in different environmental conditions. Able to understand plans, design specifications, and equipment operating manual instructions. Competency using tools and operating equipment. US Driver's License required, able to drive an automobile, van, light truck or utility vehicles. Good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing system operations and functions. Skills: Knowledge of safe operating procedures, such as Lock Out /Tag Out Understanding obligations under OSHA regulations Ability to understand and apply professional industry standards for installation, repairs and safety Ability to operate power tools and equipment Ability to operate computer-based equipment Adaptability to work in a diverse environment, focusing on customer satisfaction under high-stress conditions, and organize an effective response to day-to-day requirements, and one-of-a-kind extremes Administrative coordination, regarding job assignments, productivity, time management Knowledge of the operating practices of preventive maintenance How to Apply: To apply, submit the following materials.
