Job Description Provide career coaching to individual undergraduate and graduate students, recent alumni, and small groups. Assess skills, interests, strengths, and areas for development to determine the best approach for achieving career goals. Help students and alumni identify and achieve career goals and create individualized career plans. Assist students in creating and developing resumes, cover letters, portfolios, interviewing skills, and other professional and job search skills that help students prepare and navigate an ever-changing job market for early-career talent. Present and facilitate various career development workshops on topics such as resume writing, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, business communication, employer expectations, networking and social media, and other career-related topics. Competently respond to a variety of questions during workshops. Work closely with the Career Center team and various campus partners to determine the scope, deliverables, resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new programs and projects. Participate in the successful execution of assigned programs and projects including ensuring high student attendance. Maintain confidential and sensitive information. Secure and protect all career center data, passwords, and documents. Manage budgets responsibly. Support key Career Center initiatives such as the Co-op Program, the Student Engagement & Career Success initiative, Operation Excellence and others through career coaching, program development, and data gathering. Gain expert knowledge in career development tools and resources such as Handshake, Big Interview, Resume AI, Interstride, CareerShift, and various other resources. Keep abreast as resources change over time. Review and understand data on student participation rates and contribute to departmental reporting. Attend and support employer recruiting events and help to strengthen relationships with employers and alumni to develop employment opportunities. Conduct outreach to students and recent alumni to support career outcomes data gathering efforts. Represent the Career Center and university at various on-campus and off-campus events as requested or assigned. Always maintain a professional level of conduct and attire. Occasionally work evenings and weekends to support Career Center, Admissions, New Student Orientation, and other events. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred in counseling, higher education, psychology related area. 1- 3 years of work experience, preferably in career advising, human resources, recruiting, or other relevant experience. Proven record of success demonstrated through goal achievement, continuous learning, and continuous improvement. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must be able to lift and carry parcels, packages, and other items (25 lbs.), walk short distances to various buildings across campus, and drive a vehicle if needed. Knowledge and Skills Career Coach Training is provided for all career coaching staff. New hires must pass the Stevens Career Coach Training program and curriculum within 90 days of the date of hire. Demonstrate a student focus perspective and must enjoy working with a college student population. Knowledge of technology degree programs or career paths in engineering or technology desired, but not required. Strong interpersonal skills required. Must be willing to understand the Stevens undergraduate curricula. Must demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred knowledge of career management platforms such as Handshake. Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written). Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to adapt to change and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a demanding environment.
