Job Details Level Experienced Job Location Fisk University - Nashville, TN Remote Type N/A Position Type Full Time Education Level Graduate Degree Salary Range Undisclosed Travel Percentage None Job Shift 1st Shift Job Category Education Description Fisk University's NSF-funded CREST Center for Biological Signatures and Sensing (BioSS) is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Biology / Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. The postdoctoral fellow will work in the laboratory of Dr. Brian Nelms (Associate Professor of Biology and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Fisk University, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology, Vanderbilt University) and participate in the nationally- acclaimed Fisk-Vanderbilt Master's-to-PhD Bridge Program as a mentor to Masters-level students. The Nelms lab uses the model organism C. elegans to study the molecular regulation of dopaminergic neurons and other neuron types. A primary goal is the discovery and characterization of new molecules critical for dopamine neuron function, through genetics and RNA-sequencing methods. Qualifications Qualifications: Applicants should hold the PhD or equivalent and ideally have training in the fields of molecular genetics and/or neurobiology or related fields, and some familiarity with next generation sequencing and analysis. Additional experience in microfluidics systems and other computational approaches is a plus. The successful candidate will join a community of Bridge mentors (faculty, postdocs, and PhD candidates) with a high commitment to research and professional development.
