Payroll Tax Analyst - Duluth, GA (On Site) Career Opportunity: The Payroll Tax Analyst provides support to the leadership of the payroll function by conducting analyses to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as WestRock policies and practices; identifying and correcting data anomalies; supporting merger and acquisitions; testing functionality changes; reconciling payroll to controls; and participating on projects. How You will impact WestRock Responsible for the audit and accurate timely reconciliation of US quarterly and annual payroll tax filings Conduct end of quarter and year end activities to include the issuance and communication of year end statements Assist with tax related projects, system testing and implementations to ensure compliance Review and ensure payroll taxes are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations (including but not limited to executing daily tax funding, jurisdictional tax account setup, preparing & filing tax returns/reports not filed by third party vendors, etc.) Communicate with internal and external parties (HR, Equity, Tax Agencies, Third Party Vendors, etc.) to ensure accurate data reporting and tax compliance Provide high quality service to employees and effectively resolve employees issues; provide root-cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence Knowledge and Experience: Two to three years relevant work experience Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations for US is required Bachelors Degree preferred ADP SmartCompliance experience is preferred PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 experience is a plus Experience with Payroll Year End Processing Experience working with multiple state and local tax jurisdictions in North America (US, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico) Ability to research and analyze data to ensure accuracy of data processing and reporting Experience with mergers and acquisition integrations a plus Experience in issue resolution, problem solving, and facilitating business process redesign Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills required Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Attention to detail required Proficient using MS Office tools (including Excel pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Minimal Travel as required Professional certification in payroll and/or human resources a plus Demonstrated history of successful performance including meeting and exceeding goals desired Demonstrated ability to manage large amounts of complex data What we offer: Corporate culture based on integrity, respect, accountability, and excellence Comprehensive training with numerous learning and development opportunities An attractive salary reflecting skills, competencies, and potential A career with a global packaging company where Sustainability, Safety and Inclusion are business drivers and foundational elements of the daily work Smurfit WestRock is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
