Occasional remote work allowed. Occasional travel to NAU Statewide locations, less than 5 hours per week. Frequent travel on Flagstaff Mountain campus to visit sites and customers is required. Job Description As the Manager of Network Administration, this position oversees three distinct teams: the Network team (NOC) handles all aspects of the LAN/WAN, the ICT team supports the physical layer, and the Electronic Safety & Security (ESS) team manages building access/security systems. The three teams are comprised of 13 staff with a handful of Student workers. Primary job responsibilities include day-to-day operations, prioritizing workloads, and project support. Building relationships with campus entities to deliver the above services is paramount. Daily Operations - 50% Oversees engineering, implementation, administration of the three distinct teams. Prioritizes work between break/ fix and project tasks. Collaborates with university users and support teams to provide cost-effective, enterprise grade, supportable solutions. Evaluates new technology offerings in supported areas. Coordinates project delivery with NAU ITS Project Office, NAU Facilities Project office, and vendor partners. Service Delivery - 20% Adheres to NAU ITS Service Management policies and procedures Brokers Change Management activities to minimize risk and maintain service levels Ensures timely and satisfactory resolution of problems. Tracks root cause analyses, recommendations, and lessons learned to ensure constant improvement in team and technical capabilities. Administrative Support - 15% Manages budget, participates in RFPs, coordinates vendor quotes. Maintains and publishes associated Division 27 & 28 construction standards. Maintains vendor relationships to ensure acceptable levels of support and continuity of service. Provides operational status reports to senior leadership as needed. Personnel Management - 10% Hiring, onboarding, and offboarding of staff when required Performance management of team Evaluates training opportunities and ensures staff is current in technology offerings and associated certifications. Other - 5% Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor/'s degree in information technology, network engineering, or related field; AND, 2-4 years of relevant technology experience; AND, 1-2 years of management or supervisory experience; OR, Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications A strong understanding of layers 1-3 of the OSI model. BICSI, Cisco, Lenel, Belden, or other industry certifications are highly desirable. 5 or more years of enterprise networking experience. Experience with ESS Systems to include building access and video capture technologies. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of physical layer network infrastructure and topology. Knowledge of LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi best practices. Knowledge of related industry trends and best practices. Project planning/management experience. Relationship building within NAU ITS organization, NAU Community, and external vendors. Effective verbal and written communication with the ability to articulate complex concepts in simple terms to a diverse audience of IT and non-IT professionals. Analyzes complex situations, anticipates issues, and seeks collaborative solutions. Prior experience managing third party support and service agreements. Balances competing priorities. Demonstrates decision-making and leadership capabilities. Promotes a diverse, inclusive environment. Background Information This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position.
