Erects and works from scaffolding, ladders, air lifts, bucket trucks, etc. Inspects contractor installations for compliance with MPS standards. Operates and maintains various equipment related to the trade. Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan. Performs other duties as assigned. Exposure to confined spaces that may require special rigging, harnessing, etc. Work at heights on various types of support equipment, including scaffolding, swing stages, bosons chairs, extension and step ladders, needle beam scaffolding, etc. that may require special harnessing and fall protection equipment. Roof work that may require special fall protection equipment, such as personal fall arrest systems (PFAS). Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, crawling, etc. Physical Demands: Exposure to work environments as previously indicated Ability to climb and work at heights at or above 70 feet in all weather conditions Ability to move objects weighing 100 lbs. or more Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Qualifications Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Experience Requirements: Five (5) years of experience at a journeyman level (HVAC, Fuel Oil, and Control Systems) Certifications and Licensing Requirements: Valid State of Wisconsin Motor Vehicle operator's license and availability of properly insured personal vehicle at time of appointment and throughout employment. Certification in the EPA Asbestos Abatement Training Program (O&M) within 6 months of appointment Note 1 Silica Awareness Training within first month of appointment. Note 1 Certification in the Lead Safe Renovator Training Program within 6 months of appointment. Note 1 Scaffolding User / Erector Training Certification within 6 months of appointment. Note 1 Fall Protection Competent Person Training Certification within 6 months of appointment. Note 1 Completion of additional assigned Safety and Health training within 6 months of appointment: Note 1 Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout) Training Hazard Communication Training Personal Protective Equipment Training Note 1 - Training and/or testing will be provided by MPS but employee must obtain the certification within the time allotted. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to perform previously indicated Essential Functions/Core Competencies. Must have a working knowledge of computer applications, including MS Office software. Knowledge of and skill in designing and preparing schematics of (HVAC) systems Knowledge of and skill in installing, repairing, maintaining checking, testing and modifying: Various types of pneumatic, electric and direct digital control (DDC) systems and components. Steam, vacuum, condensate system, components and related equipment Piping, radiation and air handling units Hot water systems, components and related equipment Refrigeration and air conditioning systems, components and related equipment Industrial and commercial gas, oil systems, components and related equipment Knowledge of construction terminology and practices, construction materials, safe working practices, basic math (including basic geometry). Skill in use of computers and computerized energy management systems. Skill in welding pipe, brazing cast iron, soldering and silver soldering copper tubing and coils. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare field reports as required. Responsibilities Works effectively to install, repair, modify, inspect, test and maintain; all components of heating and cooling systems, commercial gas, compressed air systems, oil and boiler/burner equipment, various types of control systems with a strong background in welding, brazing and soldering. Designs and draws schematics for steam, hot water, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Plans and oversees project details, determines methods to follow, assures completion of projects in accordance with contract documents (plans and specifications) and time constraints. Estimates and documents material and labor costs associated with work orders and projects. Construct and/or erect (under the direction of a Competent Person) various types of support equipment, including scaffolding, swing stages, bosons chairs, extension and step ladders and needle beam scaffolding. Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan. Performs other duties as assigned.
