The Quality Technician ensures that the installations of equipment and wiring is done according to customer/engineering specifications. Serves as the wiring inspector for all projects prior to being released for the packing process. Ensures all documentation is recorded/signed/submitted properly. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, test procedures and/or defined plans to perform layout, wiring, testing, validation and/or checkout. Works with Production Manager on day-to-day game plan, general instructions on new assignments come from a Wiring Shop Foreman or Production Manager.Determines and develops approach to solutions based on company/customer standards, and as approved by management. Mentor & Train Wiring Technicians. Responsibilities include: Responsible for Final inspection and packaging of customer bungalow and gate mechanisms. Check all wire shop work for layout, wiring and labeling per the plans provided. Responsible for reviewing customer plans prior to creating and printing labels for bungalow in the Layout process. Will review the marked-up plans and create 'Clean Plans' for the customer, also known as 'As Wired'. Support input of bar coding into Customer SAP or Raildocs for traceability. Determines and quantifies all quality discrepancies in each bungalow and gate mechanism. Categorizes discrepancies into major, moderate, or minor infractions.Keeps running list of all discrepancies which will be used for KPI's for Overall Shop quality metrics and quarterly improvements. Help develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for Quality, Scrap and/or Efficiency of Wire shop output. Person in charge of the Wire shop KPI's and presentation to Management. Recommends solutions to improve quality discrepancies to Production Manager or Shop Foreman. Creates and maintains Quality folders in Sharepoint for access by Management. Create graphs or charts for Management presentation on Quality improvements and KPI Metrics. May need to help with wiring, point to point and testing of bungalows or gate mechs during shorthand periods in Wire shop. Act as back-up to the Shop Foreman for supervision of Team Leaders and wiring technicians. Support with resolution of personnel issues within the wire shop. May perform some or all the below duties depending on area of assignment: Generate and distribute tags for each bungalow. Provide feedback to engineering with regards to issues/conflicts discovered in circuits, circuit detail, wiring, equipment layout, Bill of Materials, etc. Oversight and support factory testing using provided test sheets/plans; debug and troubleshoot routine to moderate errors Obtain broad understanding of the function, department, and business by cross-training and supporting other roles, as requested. All other duties assigned Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience: Associate degree minimum or degree in process in a technical or related field. Minimum 6+ years of related work experience required. Must have completed RJC supervisor/leadership training. Minimum of (8) continuing education courses completed per wiring shop curriculum. Strong intuitive/cognitive skills Sound basic mechanical and electrical aptitude Basic working knowledge of electrical circuitry (AC and DC) preferred. Visual and manual dexterity to perform daily functions Ability to stand for long intervals on concrete, metal house floor Ability to frequently reach 2 feet above shoulders, forward and lateral Ability to kneel or squat Ability to occasionally grip, torque, or recline Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Ability to work in both the internal and external environment and be subject to temperature changes Subject to exposure to physical hazards and equipment where special training and safety considerations are required Subject to potential exposure to noise, vibration, moving equipment, and various environmental conditions such as slippery surfaces, ladders, and step stools.
