Overview of the Role To efficiently process home equity loans from start to finish and work as a back up to mortgage processing as needed. Requirements Home Lending Specialist Responsibilities Pro-actively keep members fully aware of their loan process. Excellent member service and regular member communication is essential. Thoroughly manage the pipeline of all active, open loans. This includes reviewing and updating the status of open loans each week. Also, following up with the proper parties to assure timely closings. If additional information is needed the Home Lending Specialist will be responsible for contacting the member or other parties as applicable. Prepare loan closing documents for member signing and recording with the county clerk. Coordinate loan closings with all applicable parties. Book loans on our core system as closed. Keep department procedures updated as changes occur. Follow-up with members on requests for pay-offs, questions regarding current mortgages/home equity payments, interest rates, insurance, payments etc. Maintain effective, professional working relationships with member service representatives, attorneys, title companies, real estate agents, lenders, etc. Service loan items such as home equity intro rate changes, home equity draw reviews, hazard and flood insurance follow ups, delinquent tax bills and file reviews as needed. Backup mortgage processor to prepare mortgage disclosures, follow up with proper parties on mortgage files, and work with members, realtors and attorneys as needed for mortgage loans. Provide outstanding levels of support to branch staff as needed relating to new loans and the servicing of already booked loans. Cross train within the department to support all areas. Stay up to date on regulatory guidelines, as well as Credit Union policies and procedures as they relate to Real Estate Lending. Keep all assigned general accounts current and in balance. Perform system maintenance as needed, such as payment adjustments. Other duties as assigned. Home Lending Specialist Expectations Bring positivity and enthusiasm to work every day. To be knowledgeable about home equities, mortgage loans, construction loans and other GPO and OwnersChoice offered products and services. To be able to identify members' needs and seek to direct members to applicable products, services or resources. To be organized, efficient, proficient and professional in all aspects of the position and deliver outstanding member service. To provide outstanding member service at all times, including displaying professional sales and services skills, proper phone etiquette, ensuring member confidentiality, and going above-and-beyond to make the member experience at GPO of the highest quality. To be pro-active in ensuring the home lending process proceeds in a timely manner all the way through to closing. Ensure accuracy of documentation with zero unresolved errors and compliance with relevant policies, procedures and regulations. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Be cognizant of deadlines and showcase the ability to meet those deadlines. Hold yourself accountable for the promises you make and the actions you take. Follow up with members as promised. Meet and/or exceed all productivity goals assigned to you. Help create a positive image for GPO by playing an active role in the community. Adapt a work ethic that is aligned with GPO's mission and keeps our member service at the forefront. Protect member information by using discretion when discussing member matters and properly following all policies and procedures related to confidential information. Home Lending Specialist Qualifications Six months of similar or related experience and A high school diploma or GED. MLO-certified. Notary Public. Must have excellent communication skills. Should be proficient in the use of computers, various software programs and calculators. Home Lending Specialist Physical Demands Sitting for prolonged periods of time Frequent computer usage and screen time Frequent typing and usage of fine motor skills Home Lending Specialist Training To participate in education/training programs annually.
