DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a SVP Professional Liability About the role: DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Senior Vice President to lead the Professional Liability business and prepare it for expansion. The Head of Professional Liability has P & L responsibility and will directly drive business growth and the financial success of the business. This role will report directly to the Chief Casualty Officer with responsibility for professional lines growth, product breadth, underwriting strategies, team member proficiency, development and performance across all its geography. Location: Remote, United States Salary Range: $275,000-$325,000 This role is responsible for the overall P&L of the line of business. The Head of Professional Liability will work in partnership with the Chief Casualty Officer to ensure results are achieved consistent with the objectives outlined in the segment operating plans and line of business strategy. Further, the role will maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with key areas including Information Systems, Operations, Capacity Management, Product Development, Actuarial, Claims, Human Resources, Legal and Finance. Essential Functions: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Professional Liability Underwriting operations. Manage Professional Liability underwriting results to achieve corporate financial and profitability goals and support both division and company goals of optimized profitability, managed growth, and enhanced competitive advantage. Establish a culture of high integrity, transparent underwriting built on sustainable, profitable underwriting results for carrier partners, reinsurers, and employees. Assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. Monitor and analyze production activity. Collaborate with Chief Casualty Officer to identify and implement strategies to improve production, efficiency and profitability. Provide leadership and support for the design, development, and implementation of new products as well as the redesign and refinement of existing products. Attract, coach, and develop talent. Provide technical advice, direction and mentoring to employees and internal partners. Work with the Chief Casualty Officer to implement long and short-term underwriting strategies and participate in strategic business planning activities that are designed to increase our market presence and effectively achieve profit and growth objectives for all region(s). Lead the establishment of underwriting and product implementation strategies that are reflective of marketplace conditions, while at the same time, meet our growth and profit goals. Collaborate with and provide oversight to the regional underwriting staff on portfolio growth and management while providing strategic underwriting direction to ensure production, financial and underwriting objectives with respect to profitability are achieved. Drive and communicate sound underwriting strategies and standards throughout the organization. Monitor and take appropriate underwriting actions in conjunction with underwriting staff to maintain long term sustainable profitability with carrier partners. Develop and maintain relationships with Operations, Loss Control, and Claims to operationalize underwriting decisions. Collaborate with Claims and Actuarial to determine monitor and improve risk appetite as needed. Recommend updates to underwriting guidelines and monitor production and rate levels. Proactively respond to regulatory and legal environment. Build and maintain internal and external relationships including carrier, reinsurance, and agent relationships. Maintain keen understanding of industry competitors in each market segment. Identify trends and emerging issues. Drive excellence to ensure all risks meet quality. Implement cost-saving measures and pursue new business opportunities. Enhance carrier integration/delivery to improve financial performance of the organization. Develop short and long-term strategies to streamline operations and enlist active participation of staff and internal resources to optimize process. Job Requirements (education, experience, skills): Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. 10 + years of progressive work experience in Professional Liability underwriting and underwriting leadership showing a clear track record of success.
