PRIMARY FUNCTION : This position requires responsibility for laboratory logistics. Works under the supervision of the Chair and will be required to organize these laboratories as a whole. This person also will provide support to the Compounding Laboratory. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manages a functioning laboratory that abides by all lab safety guidelines and continuously meets the requirements of laboratory inspection criteria. Assembles and operates lab apparatus, equipment, and sophisticated instrumentation. Evaluates, and interprets data obtained in accordance with methods requested. Assembles and operates lab apparatus, equipment, and sophisticated instrumentation. Maintains inventory: cleans, repairs and/or replaces laboratory materials and equipment. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson. OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES: DNA isolation, PCR. Protein detection: assay, Western blot, developing. Immunofluorescence. Ensure compliance with biological and chemical safety guidelines. Formulate stock solutions. Autoclave supplies needed for sterile procedures. Record, compile, organize, evaluate, and interpret data obtained in accordance with methods requested. Handle data of a confidential nature. A positive professional attitude and prompt attention to all matters is expected at all times. Assist in the Pharmaceutical Science Compounding Laboratory Carry out tasks assigned by the department chair Assist in literature search Assist with categorizing supplies and maintaining equipment upkeep Small animal handling(frequency varies based on the projects) Qualifications EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or other related scientific area required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : A minimum of two years of laboratory experience is required.
