Position: Cook Location: Southwood Interventions, 5701 S. Wood St., Chicago, IL 60636 Wage: $18.50 per hour Job Type: Full-time COOK Essential Functions: MUST be able to prepare entire meals for groups of people. Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling technique. General knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices. Ability to work well independently given proper direction. Responsible for hot food preparation, including accompaniments and garnishes. Prepares hot entrees, soups and vegetables following preparation sheets and provided recipes for dining room service, healthcare center, cafeteria and special functions. Does advance preparation as indicated. Completes food temperature checks each meal. Completes production records and stores food items properly at close of meal service. You will use various methods of cooking and seasoning and adheres to proper preparations methods. Cook food as directed in the operational menu plan for the facility food service operation. Follow recipes and maintain accurate production records. Prepare meals according to scheduling and sanitation standards. Ensure the quality assurance of all foods and supplies. Minimum Requirements (1) year prior experience in food preparation obtained in commercial, military, or institutional setting strongly preferred. High School Diploma or GED Other Qualifications: At least twenty-one (21) years of age. Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI). Drug Screen, TB Test Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department Why Should You Consider Abraxas?
