Brief Description: Develop and maintain an efficient Operations Department allowing the company to ship products to its customers which satisfy customer requirements. Operations are defined as all activities related to receiving, packaging, warehousing, inspecting and shipping of the products. Manage warehouse staff - hire, discharge, train Identify leaders within the operation and delegate necessary authority, tasks and projects accordingly Improve efficiency and effectiveness in all areas of the operation - on time shipments, minimize customer rejects Implement "Lean Principles" throughout the operation, when practicable Establish and maintain a positive working environment Establish and maintain effective lines of communication between operations and quality control Establish and maintain effective lines of communication between sales / purchasing and Operations / Quality Control Establish and enforce procedures and standards to achieve departmental goals Strive to achieve and maintain 100% inventory accuracy Oversee facilities maintenance Job Responsibilities: Manage warehouse staff - hire, discharge, train Identify leaders within the operation and delegate necessary authority, tasks and projects accordingly Improve efficiency and effectiveness in all areas of the operation - on time shipments, minimize customer rejects Implement "Lean Principles" throughout the operation, when practicable Establish and maintain a positive working environment Establish and maintain effective lines of communication between operations and quality control Establish and maintain effective lines of communication between sales / purchasing and Operations / Quality Control Establish and enforce procedures and standards to achieve departmental goals Strive to achieve and maintain 100% inventory accuracy Oversee facilities maintenance Create and maintain positive work environment Ensure the accuracy of the inventory Oversee physical/cycle counts Supervise, and if needed train the warehouse personnel to achieve the productivity level required by management Manage all department supervisors and ensure that departmental personnel count matches their workload Manage the work schedule of warehouse personnel including overtime; discuss any significant overtime hours with the Operations Manager and receive his/her approval Discuss and resolve personnel issues through department supervisor first, then if needed, discuss it with the Operations Manager (LA) Communicate directly with the President as needed Maintain overall housekeeping of the warehouse Understand and follow all company rules and regulations Perform all other duties as assigned or required Education/Credentials: College Graduate or equivalent desired but not required Specific training in warehouse operations and people management 5 years proven experience as a department manager Ability to meet goals and deadlines Ability to perform in fast paced environment Must have warehouse distribution experience, ideally in the fastener industry Must have computer skills (PC and related operational WMS similar to NetSuite and/or SAP) Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint Fleet management experience (DOT, Safety, route driving, accident and inspection reporting) Must have good oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish Experience in conducting safety walkthroughs, evacuations and drills, 5S signage, meetings) Experience in an ISO environment a plus Experience in analytics, development of KPIs Previous responsibilities for creating/implementing SOPs, process improvement, safety) Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Flexible spending account Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance
