Uses power tools and other equipment to perform basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, heating, plumbing, painting and other repairs and maintenance. Knowledgeable in the use and application of simple electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read Engineering drawings and schematics. Interacts with different levels of inter-organizational personnel, vendors, and contractors. Strong customer interaction skills, ability to identify and solve problems independently and computer literacy are critical for success. Working in a team environment is critical and providing direction to others with different cultural and technical backgrounds is necessary for success. Works under the general direction of the Maintenance Coordinator and the Facility Operations and Planning Manager. Work is usually reviewed for completeness and accuracy. Primary Challenges and Responsibilities: Complete Maintenance Work Orders as scheduled. Assist with the completion of capital or special Facilities projects. Perform tasks as directed by Maintenance Coordinator or Principle Technician. Support more senior Technicians in the resolution of more complicated facility issues. Assist with and proactively support all safety and lean initiatives. Perform and assist in building maintenance tasks that may involve carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and painting. Accurately document maintenance activities and work order data. Order and store supplies and equipment. Safely operate pallet jacks, maintenance lift equipment, and forklifts. Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Conducts and completes on-the-job training and technical self-study programs for career development. Basic Qualifications: One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in general maintenance or facility maintenance. Basic working knowledge of maintenance lift equipment, forklifts, and material handling equipment. Basic understanding of lockout / tagout procedures. Basic knowledge of cutting, grinding, welding, and fabrication. Work with Planner / Scheduler to optimize preventative maintenance procedures and document maintenance activities. Maintain a safe work environment by documenting and correcting potential safety issues and complying with all safety regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of MS Office Applications. Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
