Job Title : Shift Supervisor Reports to: Operations Manager Schedule: Sunday through Thursday with OT as needed 3rd: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks: Manage a team of up to 30 hourly workers Be able to learn how to and perform all tool changes. Follow tool change procedures, including broken tool procedure Troubleshoot tooling and fixture problems. Work with QC department to ensure quality of product by maintaining high quality standards Follow "Non Conforming Material" reaction plan Sort parts as needed (Containment Procedure) Train and mentor new and existing operators on all jobs Very basic machine maintenance repair (coolant, oils, fixture PM's) Machine recovery, i.e. power outages or machine crash Help create work instructions and process sheets Assist in development, implementation, and sustainment of 5S Understand and follow company rules per the handbook Issue verbal and written warnings to operators as needed Follow startup and shutdown procedures Assist with PLEX errors for production when operators enter their counts Maintain a high level of operator efficiency and utilization Email a detailed shift note to your supervisor Follow all safety procedures Answer all job related questions Assist in performance reviews for operators Assist in employee hiring and dismissals Assist in inventory control Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures. Perform all other duties, as assigned . Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Must have at least one year leadership experience, required Must have working command of the English language, and be able to communicate orally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos and instructions). Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routings on job travelers, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic hand held measuring tools Ability to operate a fork truck after being trained Ability to use Microsoft word/excel/outlook. Does not require more than a basic understanding and usage. PLEX knowledge a plus. Physical Requirements Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items Responding to public address system announcements Walking and standing for 8+ hours per day Lifting twenty-five (25) pounds or more Environmental Job Requirements Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the shop, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface The shop environment can be dusty and noisy Door are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions, or liquids such as coolants and oils from the machinery May have to handle parts with sharp edges Passing forklifts emit gas fumes Tools, supplies, and related materials may contain hazardous materials May have to occasionally work outdoors where temperatures and climate can fluctuate Personal Protection Equipment The wearing of Safety Glasses when working on the shop floor. Management has the right to add or change these duties of the position at any time.
