Job Summary The Minneapolis College Store and Textbook Center is seeking six (6) temporary, part-time Textbook Center Assistant/College Store Assistant positions to provide the following assistance: textbook center, in-store. Under general supervision and procedural control, assistants provide customer service to Minneapolis College Store and Textbook Center customers on matters relating to e-commerce and in-store sales. Assistants may also assist with shipping and receiving of merchandise for the Store. These positions also provide assistance to Store staff with day to day operations during peak periods. These positions also provide clerical services necessary to perform general office tasks in support of Store operations. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and understand information. Customer service skills in person, on the phone and online to provide effective general and specialized office support with courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem solving, empathy, and to organize ideas logically. Knowledge of math skills sufficient to perform simple math functions to control the change and return of funds. Knowledge of computer and technology skills sufficient to process online and pointof service (POS) orders. Demonstrate an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency, incorporate culturally responsive practices, and actively engage in antiracism professional development learning opportunities. Physical Requirements: Standing for up to 50% of the day (up to 80% for shipping/receiving clerks) and often bend, lift, and move carts and hampers. Lifting and moving materials weighing 15 - 50 lbs. on a daily basis.
