We are seeking a Principal Engineer who can also serve as our Project Manager to join our Land Development team in a leadership role for our Van Note-Harvey business on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Princeton, NJ. This person will lead multi-discipline design projects for public & private site development. This person will also be expected to oversee our staff in all aspects of projects (including conceptual/planning, preliminary design, detailed development, construction documentation, permitting documents, and engineering reports). Primary Responsibilities: Oversee the preparation of civil/site engineering designs & plans for jurisdictional approval as well as permitting. Work effectively with Design staff, Engineers, and other Project Managers to complete projects. Complete tasks & assignments as directed by Senior Leadership (within the timeframes and budgetary constraints of the project(s)). Apply knowledge of design standards being used by various clients to develop effective engineering solutions. Document solutions in an organized manner, and then accurately describe them to other Project Managers as well as the Design team. Ensure effective project development by setting appropriate budgetary constraints, filing project data, meeting design criteria / client requirements, and assuring that work has been completed (including reviewed by competent personnel and a thorough QA/QC process) prior to being delivered to the client. Lead meetings with clients and provide updates on project status. Contribute to Business Development efforts by identifying (and helping to secure) new clients. Serve as a Mentor for less-experienced staff members. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed. Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Civil, Construction, Environmental, or a similar technical discipline). Active P.E. credential in NJ. 12+ years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with design, construction, and/or land development projects). Preferred Qualifications: Proven leadership skills; Management and/or Project Management experience is strongly preferred. Experience with residential and commercial development projects. Proven expertise with Water Resources engineering, including stormwater management [SWM] design & permitting. Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, project management software, etc.); understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred. Experience with building and/or maintaining client relationships; Business Development experience is plus. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude. Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to demonstrate a self-motivated demeanor while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
