We are seeking a collaborative, proactive Property Accountant to oversee the property accounting initiatives for our innovative company. The Property Accountant is responsible for accurately reporting tenant payments received and due and performs account analysis and reconciliation. NexMetro Communities is one of the nation's largest single-family rental community developers, specializing in building communities for consumers seeking a place that rents like an apartment but lives like a single-family home. NexMetro develops luxury leased communities marketed under the name Avilla Homes. Avilla neighborhoods combine the benefits of luxury residential single-family living with the convenience, flexibility, and professional on-site management of a Class A apartment community. The result is a new residential hybrid housing option"”detached, single-story homes in prime suburban locations that are highly differentiated from traditional rental products. Summary of Responsibilities: Compile and analyze financial information for month-end and year-end close including the preparation of supporting schedules and work papers. Review monthly reporting packages for 10-15 properties, including financial statements and bank reconciliations. Prepare/review journal entries and ensure that the general ledger activity is accurate and complete. Collaborate with property managers and regional leadership to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Support accounts payable and vendor functions. Work with Property Management Companies and Asset Management teams to On-board new properties. Acts as liaison to external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, providing research data and information as requested, and answering questions necessary to complete the audit in a timely manner. Completes various financial, accounting, and other reports and analysis, and performs other duties as assigned or as necessary. Summary of Ideal Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 3+ Years of Property Management Experience Preferred or equivalent Experience with Yardi is preferred but not required. Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts and theories. Understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable process. MS Office advanced computer skills. Excel intermediate to advanced level. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
