Division: Eskenazi Health Sub-Division: Hospital Req ID: 21035 Schedule : Full Time Shift : Days Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Role Summary The Radiologic Technologist-Mammographer must understand and perform 2D and 3D mammograms, assist radiologists with breast ultrasounds and biopsies, and perform required QC tasks. This position also provides appropriate documentation to meet the strict requirements set by the Indiana State Department of Health, ACR, MQSA/FDA. Schedule: 8hr days; option for 3 or 4 days a week Essential Functions and Responsibilities Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health's values Attends, participates and complies with all Joint Commission and ISDH mandated programs developed by Eskenazi Health and/or the Radiology department Performs 2D and 3D screening and diagnostic breast imaging procedures with use of diagnostic mammographic, ultrasonic, and stereotactic localization modalities Reports problems with equipment, staff, or operations within the department Provides adequate and timely communications with staff; encourages involvement and participation in departmental operations Assists the radiologist and/or radiology resident with radiographic and ultrasonic exams Adheres to and follows all quality control procedures and protocols, including accurate and timely documentation of results, as required by Federal and State regulations Adheres to and follows all regulations concerning the ACR Mammography Accreditation Program Complies with National Patient Safety Goals Uses universal precautions when in contact with blood and other bodily fluids Accurately enters all appropriate patient and departmental data, including order, track and charge in EPIC Trains and precepts students and/or new employees Must remain in compliance with all accreditations including but not limited to: American College of Radiology, Indiana State Department of Health and The Joint Commission education, license and certification requirements. Job Requirements Indiana licensure as a Radiologic Technologist ARRT registration, including compliance with professional CEU requirements Completion of an orientation program on mammographic x-ray equipment based on a procedural manual Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Participation in extensive training, maintaining constant attention to detail, while working with anxious patients Strong foundation of knowledge regarding anatomy and pathology of the breast Ability to vary positioning depending on body habitus and patient flexibility; demonstrate a high quality of patient positioning Knowledge of how and why to perform a proper work-up of suspected abnormalities, as a critical member of the breast cancer detection team Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong listening skills Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities Working knowledge of EPIC and PACS system Knowledge of drug utilization and safety procedures to minimize risk to adult and geriatric patients, coworkers and self Demonstrated ability to produce quality digital radiographic images Demonstrated ability to select proper exposure factors to result in the desired image quality Ability to follow both written and oral instructions Ability to handle patient contacts with high degree of tact and patience Accredited by The Joint Commission and named as one of Indiana's best employers by Forbes magazine for two consecutive years and the top hospital in the state for community benefit by the Lown Institute, Eskenazi Health's programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community.
