We are seeking a Senior CivilStructural Engineer to join our client's engineering team, working on projects of varying complexity and size for our fossil and hydro power generation clients. The role involves providing design support for additions and modifications to power generation-related structures. Great opportunity to work on innovative projects and requires a dedicated professional with a strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles.Key Responsibilities:Design and support for mechanical and electrical equipment supports, racks, foundations, and anchorages.Design foundations for pre-engineered metal buildings.Structural design for steel-framed, concrete, or masonry buildings.Design of personnel access platforms, walkways, stairways, and similar structures.Retaining wall design, as well as lifting and rigging analysis and component design.Preparation and completion of discipline-specific engineering designs, including design criteria, calculations, drawings, and specifications.Collaborate in defining project objectives, preparation of design estimates, and routine design approaches.Scope, estimate, organize, execute, and coordinate engineering projects with complex technical requirements.Review and ensure deliverables comply with company procedures and applicable design requirements.Perform calculations using structural analysis software such as STAAD, Risa, and Enercalc.Use MathCAD and Excel for design calculations.Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360, AISC 341, and ACI 318.Support resolution of construction issues, assisting the design team to address concerns in a timely manner.Qualifications:BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.8+ years of experience in civilstructural engineering.California PE or ability to obtain within 6 months (Structural PE preferred).Experience with structural analysis software (STAAD, Risa, Enercalc).Proficiency in MathCAD and Excel for calculations.Knowledge of ACI 318, including Appendix D anchorage designs.Proficient in 2D AutoCAD drafting and 3DBIM modeling.Seismic design experience with concrete and steel.Familiarity with industry codes and standards (IBC, CBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360, AISC 341, ACI 318, etc.).Willingness to travel (primarily day trips, some overnights), mostly within California.Skills and Attributes:Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).Strong organizational skills and self-motivation to meet deadlines.Creative problem-solving abilities and a strong understanding of structural design principles.Adherence to Mesa's quality program and safety standards.US Citizenship required and must be able to pass a security background check.Preferred Qualifications:MSCE with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited school.Familiarity with power generating utility processes.Experience with Finite Element Analysis software.Seismic design expertise with both concrete and steel.Salary is negotiable and based on experience level.
