Role: Freelance Strategy Director Department: Strategy Term: Initial 3-month assignment with the opportunity for extension Summary Our Strategy team is focused on leveraging data-infused insights to fuel our strategic and creative process - with the goal of making work that connects powerfully and incites action to build brands and businesses. As a Strategy Director, you will lead a team focused on creating brand, digital and creative strategies across a range of accounts. You will be key to selling-in strategic projects to our clients, as we see strategy as a key Agency growth driver. Experience with tourism and hospitality a plus. What you do in a day: Direct Discovery & Insight - leveraging desk research, stakeholder interviews, and other primary research - across assigned clients Consult on research projects (qualquant studies, IDIs, UX testing, creative testing) and manage agency relationships with research vendors Inspire compelling creative by translating data into actionable human insights Develop Target Profiles and Brand Idea briefs; brief creative teams; review creative work to ensure Brand Ideas, content, and messages resonate with the target Understand and build B2B and B2C customer personas, detailed journey maps, and multi-channel digital communication strategies that align to client business goals Drive brand strategy projects across assigned accounts (architecture, positioning, identity, naming) Establish relationships with key clients and provide proactive strategic counsel, lead client meetings and presentations when appropriate Partner with integrated teams to create Activation Plans Partner with Performance Media to ensure work meets KPIs - build test and learn plans with associated metrics and benchmarks for ongoing optimization Contribute to new business efforts through proposal writing, scoping, creative strategy development, and pitching Create frameworks for strategic thought leadership Partner with other Strategy team members to conduct workshops with clients to align on inputs and possibilities for strategic initiatives, including brand development, messaging and positioning, and definition of user experience requirements Keep up to date on marketing best practices and trends affecting client ROI Make presentations internally and externally to support the ongoing education of staff and clients As a leader: Create space for the best possible work Facilitate collaboration across all agency practices Grow talent, delegate work, and manage a team Strengthen relationships with key client contacts; provide proactive strategic counsel Participate in resourcing decisions to ensure the proper level of investment across projects Partner on strategic account planning to drive organic growth Must-have personal and professional skills: 7-10 years agency experience - including strong planning experience Comfortable working in highly flexible environments; able to switch gears from brand-to-brand and partner with other team memberspractice areas to meet deadlines Strong writer and communicator; able to clearly articulate and sell your strategies in relatable and convincing ways Comfort partnering with researchers to set up, perform and evaluate research Ability to identify insights from diverse data sources including search, social, web data, and client-provided documentation Digital affinity and expertise Entrepreneurial mindset, desire to problem-solve and shape a growing team Minimum bachelor's degree
