Trinity Industries is searching for a Fleet Engineer to join our team at our corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas. What you'll do:Evaluate designs and products for compliance with regulatory and contractual standards in terms of material, stability and performance; follow established engineering procedures and policies; manage engineering change processDevelop scope of work, engineering drawing packages, provide maintenance instructions, R-1 and 4-2 applications and repair procedures to support maintenance and repair of Trinity Industries Leasing Company railcars and managed assetsServe as an Engineering project leader for creating railcar specifications and reviewing with the customers during the order review meetingsManage CAD functional activities for the assigned projectsProvide internal technical consultative services to divisionplant managers and team in sales, engineering and manufacturing departmentsMaintain external relationships with vendors, customers, engineering and operating personnel at various maintenance facilitiesSupport Trinity Industries Leasing Company improvement initiativesEnsure design intent is maintainedMake design and material recommendations to achieve desired resultsWhat you'll need:B.S. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering2+ years' experience of engineering procedures and administration; emphasis on railcar design preferredOutstanding communication skills - both written and verbalExcellent Microsoft Office skills necessaryAbility to multi-task handle multiple projects of differing scaleDemonstrated ability to execute all phases of product design, prototype development, product analysis and manufacturing processes while conforming to applicable regulatory standards and practices. Knowledge of AAR andor FRA regulations preferredExperience in a manufacturing or repair plant in a Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, or Resident Engineer position with a custom product, freight andor tank car production or maintenance preferredKnowledge of different types of weld process and industry standards like AWS specificationsExperience in Autodesk systems like AutoCAD, Inventor is preferredEIT certification is preferredKnowledge of railcar operating environment preferredKnowledge of rail andor hazardous material regulations preferredKnowledge of stress analysis preferred
