Work from the comfort of your home, a local coffee shop or wherever in the U.S. brings you joy!The salary range for this position is: $70,000 to $80,000 based upon experience.The impact of this roleReporting to the Director of Professional Communities, The Manager of Professional Communities will play a key part in implementing membership strategies and fostering a "sense of place" among our community of marketers, with a specific emphasis on higher education marketers, executive marketers, and other sub-communities. This position will balance strategic leadership and execution, ensuring alignment with AMA's mission and growth goals.What you'll be doingCommunity Events LeadershipManage the programming and execution of large-scale professional community events, providing guidance on the needs and experiences of professional marketers for additional training and activities.Serve as the primary liaison for the higher ed marketing community, including strategic leadership and programming for the annual Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education. Support year-round community anize the programming for the Executive Marketer Summit and other initiatives to cultivate this subcommunity.Manage budgets for community events, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic goals.Support the development of new community events as appropriate, with a goal of growing engagement across all subcommunities.Professional Membership ExperienceSupport the development of strategies and plans to deliver value to AMA professional community cohorts, serving as the primary lead for specific community cohorts while coordinating the member experience for the essential community of marketers.Lead the fulfillment of existing membership benefits (e.g., member-only webinars, affinity groups) while also supporting the development of new tegrate a DEIA strategy into all programming and engagement efforts to ensure inclusivity within the professional community.Support the management and evaluation of current membership benefit offerings, tracking their effectiveness and value.Contribute to community growth and engagement of higher ed marketing and executive marketing subcommunities.Volunteer Management Maintain relationships with professional community stakeholders and volunteer leaders by collaborating with planning committees and temporary task forces to serve subcommunities and evolve membership value.Lead the planning committee through the programming development of the annual Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education.Support the advisory committee for the Executive Marketer Summit in programming development.Manage volunteer initiatives focused on membership experience, such as our current affinity group pilot, and support collaboration with the Professional Chapters Council and AMA Foundation as needed.Facilitate the flow of information and ideas between AMA staff and professional community volunteers to foster understanding and empathy.What you bring to the tableBachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, or equivalent area4+ years of experience with a proven track record of working with diverse volunteersstakeholders3+ years of experience in large-scale event andor program managementExperience managing budgets for community eventscomplex programsStrategic thinker who is able to see the 10,000-foot view while zooming in to address the detailsEffective relationship builder with a commitment to cultivating trust and understandingExceptional and inclusive written and verbal communication skillsA self-starter spirit with an eagerness to keep learning and endless curiosityAbility to travel up to 15% as necessaryCommitment to AMA's mission of building the essential community for marketersWhat you may also haveNotable business development andor membership experience within nonprofits or associationsA forward-thinking attitude with an innate ability to lean into changePrior experience with Salesforce and WordPressPassion for the value of marketingWhat to expect from the interview processHiring Manager resume reviewOne way video interview on Spark Hire (We promise this isn't scary!
