Position DescriptionPlans and performs a variety of complex engineering assignments to promote the safe and compliant use of engines and engine-powered products; ensures compliance with government standards and adoption of industry standards.Leads engine compliance reviews, tests, and assessments for compliance with Federal, State and International standards, emission regulations andor best practices.Evaluates progress and results of projects and routinely communicates key regulatory issues.Acts as the primary Company representative for engine and emissions specific compliance responsibility on external standardregulatory setting panels for assigned areas of responsibility.Leads relevant field incident investigations. Recommends and directs changes in design, procedures, or objectives as necessary.Job ResponsibilitiesLeads the certification of engines and equipment to meet relevant standards; produces and submits compliance reports as required for government agencies, including but not limited to EPA, CARB, and CPSC.Performs regulatory reviews during design and prior to production to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards and monitors emission performance of products compared to regulatory standardsDevelops and execute strategies, test plans, audit programs, and product risk assessments to meet compliance standards and regulationsLeads the review and integration of messages and content in label design, communication reviews, technical publications, marketing displays, and operating manualsProvides interpretations and guidance based upon research of global compliance standards and regulations and report findingsRepresents the company in the development of standards and recommends resolutions when necessaryLeads relevant product incident investigations, root cause analysis, andor emission audit reviewsAssist with representing the company for assigned areas of product specific compliance responsibility in claim resolution, insurance and legal interrogatories, depositions, trials, and assists in legal defense matters associated with incidents Train and supervise each junior regulatory compliance engineer.Job Skills RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experienceExpert knowledge of regulations and industry standardsExpert knowledge of the design, control and incorporation of compliance strategiesFundamental knowledge of engines and outdoor power equipmentExcellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills
