Job Title: ManufacturingProduction Supervisor - 2nd ShiftReports To: Sr. Manager Manufacturing Operations, Foot & Ankle Location: Houston (onsite) Business Unit Description: Foot & AnkleRole Summary:The Foot & Ankle division is a growing and dynamic team that is looking for someone who is ready to build and lead our night shift manufacturing team. The successful candidate will train personnel and troubleshoot issues that occur in the Manufacturing area. This includes but is not limited to maintaining, servicing, and operating all machine shop equipment; ensuring that safety is maintained; training and developing other manufacturing employees; and interfacing with Engineering and other stakeholders regarding manufacturing needs in order to ensure the most cost-effective manufacture of quality products. The Night Shift Supervisor has the authority to make decisions regarding issues related to Manufacturing.This is a clean shop with air-conditioned environment. (Monday through Friday; 3pm-11:30pm)Key Responsibilities:The following are the primary duties and responsibilities of this role. Other related duties may be assigned to meet the business need. Evaluate, schedule, assign and manage work order requests within the assigned areaManage the adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure product quality meets or exceeds planned goalsPlans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specification, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)Sets up mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirementsAble to set up all three machine typesServe as subject matter and technical expert for team with regards to issues on the shop floorVerifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to SOP'sMonitoring inventory levels by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock, notifying manager of need for stock orders, and verifying stock once receivedStarts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as requiredVerifies conformance of finished workpiece to specification, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machine (CMM)Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gages, and gage blocksMay install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performanceMay confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or quality staff to resolve machining, assembly, or other potential problemsParticipate in quality control assurance related activitiesPerform equipment maintenance activities as requiredCreate set-up sheets for machinists to follow during the manufacturing processDetermine sequence of operations in a programWrite CNC programs and modify existed programs for increased efficiencyMonitor CNC programs to make sure that they meet all blueprint requirementsProvide training to machinists for all applicable programs and processesCheck completed programs by running the process on the machineParticipate in manufacturing activities that relate to product developmentSet-up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot CNC machines and code as requiredAnalyze production and quality control to detect, correct, and prevent problemsParticipate in performance improvement activities, utilizes resources efficiently and effectively takes responsibility for own learning needsMinimum Basic QualificationsHS Diploma or equivalentExperience leading a manufacturing teamPrevious manufacturing work in medical devices or a related field including 5 years' experience with CNC Swiss machinesFamiliar with 5-7 axis CNC Mills and LathesFamiliar with Solidworks and ESPRIT softwareAbility to read and understand G-code and perform program editsMust have good understanding of GD&TAbility to articulate clearly; professional oral and written communication skillsMust be proficient in general computer programs such as Microsoft Office, and CAD softwareStrong planning, technical, and problem-solving skillsMust have solid mathematical skillsAbility to read and understand blueprintsPreferencesCNC programming skillsFive (5) to ten (10) years' experience on a Swiss machineWork environment | Physical DemandsClimate controlled workspaceAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeFrequent to constant use of their hands and fingers, to handle or feel, and to manipulate in a variety of different body positions or posturesFrequent to constant holding, grabbing, grasping, pinching, turning or otherwise working with hands and fingers ranging from dexterous to forceful in natureFrequent to constant lifting or exertion of force of up to 35 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbsThe employee is constantly or frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, frequently to climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlVision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to judge dimensions and spatial relationshipsPeriodic weekend or evening work
