About the job Senior Manager - State & Local Tax Northwest Talent Solutions is a leading Technology, Finance, and Healthcare staffing/recruiting and HR/DEI consulting firm partnering with outstanding clients within the private industry and public sector. Currently, we are partnered with a preferred client in the aerospace and defense industry in Melbourne, Florida in search of a highly talented Senior Manager, State & Local Tax . Job Summary: As a key member of the Tax department, you will oversee all aspects of the state income tax function, including compliance, financial reporting (ASC 740), controversy support, and special projects. This role requires a hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to perform first-level reviews regularly. We seek a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise in State and Local tax, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to lead and mentor a team. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Support quarterly and annual income tax provision process for state and local tax function, ensuring ASC 740 compliance Oversee, review, and ensure timely and accurate filing of all state and local income tax returns Prepare and review calculations of state estimated tax payments and extension filings Monitor state and local tax laws, interpret implications, and communicate impacts to Tax leadership Manage state tax controversy matters, including examinations, audit defense planning, and VDA projects Support and implement strategic planning to meet company tax profile objectives Mentor and develop tax team members Qualifications: I. Education: Bachelor's degree required (Graduate degree preferred) CPA, JD, or MST a plus II. Experience: 12+ years of prior state/local income tax experience (10+ with Graduate degree) Experience with Big 4 accounting firm and/or large tax department of multinational company preferred III. License(s)/Certification(s): CPA certification preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong proficiency with MS Excel Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to establish and maintain effective cross-functional working relationships Expertise in ASC 740 and state/local tax laws and regulations For confidential, immediate consideration, please apply with a formal copy of your resume along with your salary expectations and answers to all outlined screening questions.
