Job Details Job Location North Fulton - Alpharetta , GA Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day Job Category Nonprofit - Social Services Description The Supervisor will work alongside the Manager to ensure the efficient operation of the new Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) - Roswell. This unique facility seeks to provide a welcoming space for potential adopters and the local community. The Supervisor will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations, supervising staff, maintaining excellent customer service standards, and ensuring the daily humane care and treatment of the animals. They will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations of the center, and supporting staff, volunteer,and community programming activity at the Roswell supervision and training to support the delivery of animalcare, adoptions,and superior customer service to animals, clients, partners and animal welfare affiliates in accordance with the AHS mission, strategic goals, and organizational values. Personnel Promotes a culture of leadership, commitment, and respect Assists the Animal Welfare Manager in personnel related tasks, including new hire interviews, Training and onboarding new employees and volunteers, keeping the manager apprised of employee performance, creating employee schedules, and day to day supervision of staff and volunteers Helps coordinate and direct daily staff activities in animal care, adoptions, customer service, and other location programming Address any staff or customer issues in the absence of the Manager Administration Assist the Manager with all aspects of daily operations, including opening and closing the center. Ensure the center operates smoothly and efficiently in alignment with AHS policies and procedures. Supports the Animal Welfare Manager in managing supply inventory to include ordering, receiving, and maintaining stock levels and retail displays Handles agency funds according to all Finance Department protocols and performs Bank deposits Upholds standards for record-keeping and accuracy as it pertains to ordering and receiving, adoption paperwork, receipts, cash reconciliations, deposits, and maintaining animal records Provides training for location staff, volunteers and community service Performs location incident reporting activity including employee and non-employee accident/incident reporting Oversees location security and performs opening and closing duties in the managers absence Ensures the upkeep, safety, and sanitation of animal enclosures, public areas, workspaces, and equipment Program Support Supports the delivery of superior customer service to clients, affiliates, corporate partners, and visitors Provides adoption training to staff and volunteers, and quality control oversight for adoption counseling processes and protocols Ensuresstaff and volunteers are trained to counsel customers withorganizationally approved content such as basic medical information, behavior profiles, breed information, and adoption package benefits to help clients make good choices. Supports the manager in coordination and sourcing adoptable animals for the center and events Works closely with Foster Program personnel and Foster families to support the adoption of foster animals Works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to support the center's volunteer program, ensuring volunteers are effectively engaged and utilized. Promotes staff and volunteer understanding of AHS Adoption Program Philosophy and Policies Trains center staff to promote corporate partner and sponsor products and services to center clientele Monitors inventory and promotes sales of retail at the location Supports the manager in coordinating and hosting foster and affiliate adoption events Helps the manager coordinate and provide oversight to location program activity, including education series and events, adoption events, pet wellness services, and foster/volunteer cultivation activity Supervises the physical wellbeing, husbandry, and daily emotional enrichment of animals available for adoption Ensures animals receive timely attention from a veterinarian as needed Promotes humane animal handling according to Fear Free principles and always established safe handling procedures Trains staff and volunteers for strict adherence to AHS cleaning, disease control, and quarantine protocols Trains staff and volunteers in the safe handling of cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment in accordance with SDS rules Collaborates with other departments to accomplish departmental andorganizationalgoals Support staff in completion of daily tasks Other duties asassigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent 2-3 years of management or supervisory experience in retail, hospitality, animal welfare, or a related field. Minimum one-year animal handling experience Preferred knowledge of animal diseases, medications and treatment protocols Preferred knowledge of animal behavior and ability to read animal body language Previous experience and track record of success in a customer service environment Computer literate in a Windows environment Ability to utilize effective problem solving/decision making skills Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with staff, customers, and the community. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing daily operations and multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to manage teams and coordinate schedules effectively. Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and reporting is a plus. Knowledge of animal welfare, pet care, or adoption processes is an advantage. Desire and ability to work with animals Willingness to travel and provide program support to other AHS locations and departments Valid GA driver's license or ability to obtain a valid GA driver's license and must be insurable by Society's insurance company Ability to multi-task and handle a high stress environment Willingness to be trained and administer humane euthanasia Must be able to set aside personal judgement for the betterment of the client and the animals Must be able to communicate with and work well with a diverse clientele, different races, ethnicities, faiths, sexual orientations, income levels, etc. Proven ability to exercise sound, independent judgment Working Conditions Requires humane handling of animals and safe handling of cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment in compliance with safety rules and according to SDS rules Ability to lift, pull or push up to 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodations Required to follow AHS uniform policy Works in high noise level areas Physical efforts require constant bending, stooping and standing Safety procedures must be adhered to without exception Exposure to dogs and cats of all sizes and varying degrees of behavior and/or medical conditions. Exposure to animal waste, odors, and common allergens
