Covenant HealthCare US:MI:SAGINAW VARIABLE SHIFT FULL TIME BENEFITED Summary: The Core Lab Lead assists the Laboratory Manager in the overall operational oversight and technical activities of the laboratory for all shifts, seven days/week. Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Core Lab Lead May be expected to actively participate in the selection/hiring of new employees, provide input in employee evaluations, organize and direct section work force, and assist with bench duties as required. The Hematology Lead is expected to stay current with new technology developments and procedures as well as ensuring adequate supplies and inventory. While performing the above duties, the Laboratory Manager expects the Core Lab Lead to exercise reasonable and independent judgment in addressing day-to-day workflows. The Core Lab Lead demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. Responsibilities: Ensures appropriate scheduling of employees, working in conjunction with the laboratory management Reports and provides documentation to the laboratory manager regarding any employee relations concerns Instructs staff, trains new employees where appropriate. Ensures effective technical operation and communication with sections to all shifts and sites. Monitors, directs, and oversees technical activities of the core lab. Ensures specific procedures are in place for section and reviewed on a regular basis. Ensures appropriate quality control and quality assurance and takes any necessary corrective action. Ensures all CAP surveys are performed appropriately and results submitted within time lines. Monitors workflow patterns and suggests changes to improve service. Assists in establishing and documenting competencies. Recommends and develops new procedures and technology to improve services. Assists in new procedure development, implementation, and review in conjunction with Coordinators and Manager. Performs routine testing as required and defined by job descriptions for Medical Technologist Serves as resource for customers-Physicians, Nurses, Technologists, Phlebotomists, etc.-to answer technical questions and act independently in resolving technical problems. Demonstrates excellent customer service. Contributes to organization success targets for patient satisfaction and net operating margin. Other information: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in health services or related field Graduate of an accredited program in medical technology with MT (ASCP) certification. 3-5 years of clinical laboratory experience. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Technical knowledge, skills and abilities related to the Core Lab of the Clinical Laboratory. Proven strong verbal and written communication skills. Advanced PC computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Access LIS applications (i.e. Epic Beaker applications and databases) Team building Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently To meet/exceed timelines/deadlines consistently. To utilize independent judgment and work autonomously Demonstrate a positive attitude in the workplace showing dependability, cooperation, and desire to produce the most accurate, timely, and cost-effective results attainable WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
