Director of Dental Insurance Strategy US-NY-New York Job ID: Type: College of Dentistry (DN1032) # of Openings: 1 Category: Finance/Real Estate/Procurement/Grant Management New York University Overview Reports to the Assistant Dean of Clinical Administration and Revenue Cycle Management: This position will be responsible for directing and coordinating the commercial insurance and managed care policies, goals, and objectives related to contract language, pricing and negotiation strategy, planning and execution, revenue reconciliation as applicable, and payer relationship management on behalf of the organization. As appropriate, this position will support NYUCD leadership insurance expansion strategy in the market place regarding managed care and commercial insurance contracts, strategies for improving market share, financial performance of the contracts and opportunities to collaborate and build relationships. This position shall also be responsible for collaboration and communication between commercial insurance and managed care companies and key internal stakeholder within NYUCD. Responsible for securing optimal reimbursement and protecting the interests of NYUCD in contract negotiations and the implementation and management of commercial insurance and managed care contracts. Responsibilities Required Education: Bachelors Degree Preferred Education: Masters degree in business, health care administration, finance, insurance, marketing or related fields. Required Experience: 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a complex healthcare environment (healthcare consulting, managed care organization, insurance company, complex healthcare provider) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have specific experience and a strong track record in developing strategy to address market issues in oral care. Experience with managed care and commercial insurance, including managed care contracting and reimbursement analysis in either a provider or payer setting. Experience with budget and staff management. Preferred Experience: 5+ years of progressively responsible professional level experience developing and directing revenue operations including policies and systems, and automated billing systems. In-depth knowledge of provider contracting, including complex reimbursement terms, adjudication rules, and trends in public and private payor policies. Extensive experience with the full range of provider organizations, in all areas of the country, with all major payors. Highly sophisticated analytic methodologies, including modeling of contract performance to identify underperforming contracts and services within each contract. Demonstrated success in working effectively with all local and national insurance companies. Healthcare consulting experience working to develop healthcare strategies is a plus. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Extensive knowledge of the oral care market, ability to think critically and sound understanding of complex concepts and quantitative analyses. Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills. Effective planning, excellent managerial, analytical, leadership and project management skills. Proven ability to develop and implement policies, procedures and strategic plans that will assist with the monitoring of controls in business practices. Comprehensive Knowledge of regulations governing Article 28. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Prefer knowledge of Medicaid including administrative best practices for dental or a health-care environment. Familiarity with customer service and improvement practices in the area of denial management and accounts receivable. Qualifications In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $144,764.00 to USD $184,764.00. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
