This chemist position will provide assistance in the development, adaptation validation, and implementation of new analytical methods for chemicals of Public Health concern utilizing GC/MS, HPLC/MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP/MS, etc. analytical instrumentation per Laboratory Response Network Chemical (LRN-C) guidelines as recommended by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for Level One Laboratories Assists in the development, adaptation, validation, and implementation of new analytical techniques used to analyze chemicals of Public Health concern utilizing GC/MS, HPLC/MS, LC-MS/MS, and ICP/MS etc. analytical instruments. Perform statistical analysis on voluminous data points to prepare submission to CDC for updated lot-to-lot characterization values. Ensures that LRN-C PT survey samples, and other specimens are analyzed per CDC guidelines within the prescribed holding times. Proficient as an auxiliary analyst in Opioids/OD2A Lab, including efficiently logging samples, processing plates, operating the LC-QToF, data analysis and instrument troubleshooting. Point of contact and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Hamilton Starlet Liquid Handler utilized for lot-to-lot characterizations, CDC proficiency testing and surge capacity. Communicate with Hamilton engineers to integrate all CT methods on the Starlet liquid handler and implement updates to maintain current functionality. Assumes responsibility for instrumentation assigned, documents daily maintenance, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and assures quality assurance objectives are maintained for all analytical methods performed. Reviews technical/scientific literature. Represents BOL at meetings and conferences pertaining to laboratory analyses in response to chemical terrorism. Prepares necessary reports on current program activities as required. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of terminology. Principles and techniques used in chemical analyses. Knowledge of procedures, techniques and equipment used in chemical analysis. Skill in the use of lab equipment.
