Job Description ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a Technical Specialist to join ourteam that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. SUMMARY: Terminal Second Level Engineering (TSLE) Deployment Integration Team is looking for a Technical Specialist to serve as a member of the team that is deeply involved in the full Deployment and Integration Life Cycle of the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) project. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Works under direct supervision Provides support in real-time software design, development, testing and interface of software with computer hardware systems.Familiarity with complex software systems, mainframe and microcomputer programming including a variety of application and operating system software packages, the programming languages used for National Airspace System (NAS) systems.Experienced using commercially developed software, and the procedures applicable to existing and emerging (NAS) systems is desired. Experienced in the most current electronic and electrical engineering principles and practices.The specialist engineering experience shall be in a NAS related discipline such as command and control, communications, workstation, radar, maintenance, and computer automation fields.The specialist also provides expertise in the techniques and tools such as spreadsheets, word processor, graphics/presentation, and others used in engineering analysis and documentation. The Technical Specialist shall have expertise in hardware/mechanical design and development, including expertise in use of related development tools. Designs, develops, tests and integrates system hardware components, interfaces and software/firmware packages to produce fully integrated systems. Provides support in the technologies and practices for the testing of the NAS large-scale real time systems composed of hardware, software and firmware. Interprets and analyzes complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams, and presentation materials. Performs information systems hardware and software testing efforts, produces test and remediation plans and reports, and handles implementation of computer hardware and software for operational systems. Performs drafting work, analysis, procurement, assembly, programming, testing, packaging and other tasks necessary to produce items compliant to the requirements. Possesses knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures and techniques. Other Job Functions: Test and Evaluation policies and methods, including test plan, test procedure and test report development, and test execution Installation, integration and/or implementation with complex communication systems that accommodate specific user requirements. Hands on test bed establishment (including the physical, interface and installation requirements), test bed maintenance or test bed operations Requirements development, analysis and verification Data Network Management and Analysis support Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) FAA Air Traffic domain knowledge Requirements This is an outstanding opportunity to grow your skill set in software development. US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years Preferred Experience: UNIX and Red Hat Linux knowledge is strongly desired. These other skills are preferred: Familiarity with networking routing and switching equipment and their configuration Windows Operating System knowledge Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Experience in a variety of Basic Computer Skills and the ability to learn tasks related FAA Tech Ops/ATC functions; Basic Networking skills (how routers/switches/hubs work together); Basic understanding of electronic component installation and wiring. Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City Airport, New Jersey. Work may require extensive travel (~ 50%+) to FAA airport locations in the US when scheduling dictates.
