Posting Number: S05972P Department: Engineering Innovation Salary Range: Negotiable Pay Basis: Monthly Position Status: Regular part-time Location: Richardson Job Description: The Center for Engineering Innovation ( CEI ) is seeking a Project Engineer with experience as a CAD designer to join their team. The project engineer will lead efforts in designing and manipulating CAD files for additive manufacturing, optimizing designs, improving printing outcomes and facilitating fundamental exploration of printing capabilities. The project engineer will coordinate with other engineers to facilitate the design and development of novel 3D printing tools (including scanning systems) for high-resolution additive manufacturing. The Project Engineer will engage with academic, governmental and industry partners to design and manufacture test specimens for research and development projects. The Design Engineer will manage projects with governmental and industrial partners. The Design Engineer will serve three major roles: CAD design, tool design and project management. As a CAD designer, the Project Engineer needs to have a firm grasp of current CAD software and design principles. Experience with additive manufacturing is essential; experience with resin-based additive manufacturing is optimal. As a tool designer, the Project Engineer needs to have a working knowledge of 3D printing tools, emphasizing resin-based printing systems. Experience with DLP -based systems is desired. Systems engineering experience is desired but not required. Working with and leading interdisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists is essential. As a project manager, the Project Engineer needs to have experience leading projects (research, development and/or design) both internally (with colleagues and subordinates) and externally (academic, governmental and industrial partners). Experience setting work plans, coordinating with teams of scientists and engineers and communicating externally (leading meeting and presenting results) are required. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field year and eight years of directly related experience in that engineering discipline. Requires travel to support meetings, reviews and/or field support.
