AutomationProcess EngineerBrooksource Engineering (On-site at a pharmaceutical manufacturing client) Location: Various domestic locations (travel and temporary relocation required) Position Overview: As a Process and Automation Engineer, you will be a key technical resource responsible for overseeing the development, design, construction, and delivery of automated device assembly and packaging lines for our pharmaceutical manufacturing clients. This role involves a combination of process engineering and automation engineering duties, requiring flexibility with travel and the ability to live in different domestic cities for extended periods. You will provide project engineering oversight, ensuring that technical solutions are effectively implemented to support new product launches, capacity expansions, and line extensions. Key Responsibilities: Technical Assessment & Recommendations: Proven experience evaluating and recommending OEM technical proposals for automated assembly and packaging lines. User Requirements & Risk Mitigation: Skilled in rationalizing user requirements and defining technical and patient risks using methods like FMEA. Design & Process Oversight: Demonstrated ability to oversee the OEM design process, conduct thorough design reviews, and ensure compliance with local and corporate standards. Engineering Studies & Characterization: Experience in defining and executing Engineering Studies Plans, characterizing unit operations, and setting operating conditions for high-speed assembly lines. Testing & Optimization: Competence in developing risk-based testing protocols and identifying opportunities to optimize line performance for enhanced value generation. Process Improvement & Documentation: Ability to improve the delivery process for assembly assets by creating or revising guidance documents, SOPs, and best practices. Mentorship & Development: Experience mentoring and developing less experienced engineers, with a focus on project execution and assembly technology. Technical Direction: Assist in setting the technical direction of the team, contributing to internal process and technology improvements. Minimum Qualifications: Process Engineering: Experience or relevant coursework in the design, startup, and operation of high-speed mechanical assembly lines. Automation Engineering: Hands-on experience with Rockwell and Allen Bradley controls applied to machine controls. Capital Project Delivery: Proven track record in delivering capital projects, preferably in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment. Preferred Qualifications: Medical Device Assembly Experience Regulated Environment Expertise: Familiarity with cGMPs, Commissioning, and Qualification processes. Control Systems Programming: Experience programming control systems for high-speed assembly lines. Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to lead and influence across organizational boundaries, building strong relationships. Statistical Methods & Engineering Studies: Experience with DOE, GR&R, and statistical methods in engineering studies. Automation & Vision Systems Expertise: Proficiency in automation networks, vision systems for part inspection, and debugging of assembly lines. Process Data Historian Configuration: Expertise in configuring and utilizing process data historian systems. Educational Background: B.S.M.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred, though equivalent experience may be considered based on team composition. Additional Information: Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 25% on average, with potential peaks of over 50% for several months at a time.
