Job Description ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a Technical Specialist to join ourteam that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This position touches all facets of a National Air Space System - from cabling, networking, OS (Linux), and databases. This junior level role offers an opportunity to be mentored if you have a PASSION for IT that includes Linux. Provide Terminal Second Level Engineering (TSLE) Deployment Integration life cycle of the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) project and TAMR. Works under direct supervision Provides support in real-time deployment of systems and testing and interface of software with computer hardware systems that touches all aspects such as cabling, racks, networking, Operating Systems (Linux/Unix) and databases. Will utilize electronic and electrical engineering principles and practices. Test and Evaluation policies and methods, including test plan, test procedure and test report development, and test execution. Installation, integration and/or implementation with complex communication systems that accommodate specific user requirements. Hands on test bed establishment (including the physical, interface and installation requirements), test bed maintenance or test bed operations. Will be part of team doing requirements development, analysis and verification;Data Network Management and Analysis support and utilize Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Requirements This is an outstanding opportunity to grow your skill set in being a "jack of all trades" and join our deployment team as we travel to Air Traffic Control Towers/Centers and install upgraded systems such as TAMR (Terminal Automation Modernization and Replacement). Requirements: High School Diploma or GEDrequired and One (1) year of technical experience such as cabling, networking, installing hardware, software, and working with operating systems such as Linux. Command line Linux is strongly desired. Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (must have resided in the US for the last 3 consecutive years). Preferred Experience: UNIX and Red Hat Linux knowledge is strongly desired. These other skills are preferred: Familiarity with networking routing and switching equipment and their configuration Windows Operating System knowledge Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Experience in a variety of Basic Computer Skills and the ability to learn tasks related FAA Tech Ops/ATC functions; Basic Networking skills (how routers/switches/hubs work together); Basic understanding of electronic component installation and wiring. Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City Airport, New Jersey. Work may require extensive travel (~ 50%+) to FAA airport locations in the US when scheduling dictates.
