About the Job The Client is a full-service boutique law firm located in downtown NYC, is seeking an associate with 3-6 years of employment counselling and litigation experience to work with our clients in the hospitality industry. Candidates must have experience counselling clients through various employment and employee related matters as well as handling all stages of litigation in both state and federal courts including motion practice, court appearances and trial preparation as well as good working knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act. As a member of the Employment Practices Group, you must be able to: counsel clients through a variety of employment and human resources matters, produce pleadings, motions, and other documents commensurate with experience in a timely fashion; prepare for and represent clients at various court proceedings with minimal supervision; and manage our clients' expectations and communicate effectively to counsel them on a variety of litigation/dispute resolution strategies and risk assessments. To be considered for this position, you: • Have hands-on broad litigation experience with specific experience in employment litigation • Have hands-on experience counselling clients on employment and employee related matters • Possess stellar research and writing skills • Have a working knowledge of the NY CPLR and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure • Have excellent communication skills • Have attention to detail, and you are extremely organized • Are able to manage and maintain your own calendar and caseload • Have a collaborative attitude • Are pro-active and have an entrepreneurial spirit Additional qualifications: • Admitted to practice law in New York State and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. • Law degree from an accredited institution • Passion for food and/or experience in the hospitality industry is a plus Candidates must live within commuting distance of downtown NYC.
