SUMMARY OF DUTIES: As a Senior Industrial Engineer within Amtrak's Infrastructure Maintenance and Construction Services Department, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence. You will be responsible for developing and implementing business process improvements that enhance efficiency, streamline operations, and support data-driven decision-making across the department. By conducting system-wide benchmarking and analyzing policies, procedures, and standards, you will help ensure the department operations effectively and consistently, contributing to Amtrak's overall mission of delivering safe and reliable rail services. This role will also focus on improving workforce productivity and asset management practices, empowering the department to achieve operational economies of scale. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Lead initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve asset utilization by implementing targeted process improvements. * Conduct in-depth reviews of current business practices to identify areas for improvement in resource utilization, inventory management, and process quality. * Collaborate with the Enterprise Asset Management team to document and refine business processes with a focus on streamlining and optimizing workflows. * Partner with team members from Amtrak's Data Analytics, GIS, Asset Management and Digital Technology groups to document opportunities to better leverage these tools and systems. * Develop and present business cases that justify financial investments and process changes, ensuring they are backed through financial analysis. * Support the implementation of the department's Asset Management Strategy by establishing workforce requirements, developing production standards, and coordinating the standardization of materials and equipment for production and maintenance activities. * Promote a data driven culture by enabling department leadership to make informed decisions based on accurate and timely data. * Evaluate internal controls and processes, recommending improvements to enhance data management, documentation, and operational workflows. * Demonstrated ability to develop strategic initiatives that align with corporate goals and deliver measurable outcomes. * Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport across all levels of the organization and clearly convey complex concepts. * Proven leadership in managing organizational change, driving continuous improvement, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience. * Strong analytical skills, with proven ability to collect, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data. * Expertise in business process development and mapping, with experience in enterprise asset management practices. * In-depth knowledge of project management principles, including strategic planning, and impact analysis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 or more years of relevant experience preferred * Expertise in asset, work, and maintenance management within the rail industry. * Expertise with railroad management systems or similar industries * Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or a related field * Knowledge of Maximo or similar asset and work management systems. * Familiarity with ISO 55000 or other Asset Management standards * Experience in workforce management and optimization. COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The salary/hourly range is $78,600-$101,800, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
