Learn more about UGN at: ( The Facilities Engineer is a part of UGN's Downers Grove (corporate) Engineering team. This position will ensure that UGN's equipment and processes operate at optimal levels to maintain world class manufacturing process standards, methodologies, and best practices across UGN. The Facilities Engineer's main goal is to increase equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency. This is achieved by analyzing data, identifying problems, and developing solutions for potential equipment issues before they occur. This position will oversee preventive maintenance standardization across all UGN plants. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Serve as the equipment maintenance subject matter expert for UGN. Identify and solve problems related to the reliability of equipment and the enhancement of internal systems to continually improve equipment downtime which entails: Analyzing equipment failure data Conducting root cause analysis Developing and implementing new procedures and processes to increase equipment reliability Oversee plant infrastructure equipment (boilers, chillers, air compressors, etc.) preventive maintenance (internal/external) activities. Support the development of new procedures for monitoring and testing equipment proactively to increase overall equipment reliability. Lead the investigation of new technologies and processes that can improve equipment performance and reliability. Support the development and implementation of training programs to increase Team Member knowledge/abilities to maintain plant equipment. Support existing/new CMMS system maintenance and improvements across all plants (Proteus í WebTMA). Lead the standardization of the daily operations of the CMMS system. Collaborate with other departments to ensure that reliability is integrated into all aspects of the organization. Support Manufacturing Engineering Continuous Improvement initiatives being implemented at all plants through the on-site support of GEMBA events, etc. Support Downers Grove Project Engineering with changes to equipment standards based on best practices and lessons learned implemented/verified through equipment reliability initiatives. Support energy efficiency improvements related to all plant equipment that correlate with corporate wide sustainability goals that have been established. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or equivalent from an accredited college or university; and five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead a variety of complex projects throughout UGN. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. High level of technical aptitude - strong understanding of systems, equipment, and processes. This includes knowledge of engineering principles and specific systems used. Continuous improvement mindset - identifying and implementing ways to continuously improve reliability. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), Internet, AutoCAD & Design software.
