No Duties and Responsibilities Job Summary: Under general direction, responsible to perform skilled maintenance, repairs and operation of equipment and systems in support of University central heating and cooling operations and environmental controls. Duties & Responsibilities: The Operating Engineer will be under the direct supervision of the Chief and Assistant Chief Engineers. Duties include, but not limited to operating or assisting in the operation of: all HVAC equipment motors, turbines, combustion engines, and pumps air compressors ice/refrigeration equipment chillers (centrifugal, screw & reciprocating) hot water boilers low pressure steam boiler elevators fire suppression systems ADA equipment building automation systems ( BAS ) may at times be needed to assist with snow removal other duties as assigned Minimum Education and/or Work Experience High School Diploma, Trade School or GED graduate and three years of related experience; member of Local 399 Operating Engineers Union or enrollment in said union within 90 days of accepting position as operating engineer. Licenses: City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License. Qualifications High School Diploma, Trade School or GED graduate and three years of related experience; member of Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers or enrollment in Local 399 within 90 days of accepting position as operating engineer. Certificates/Credentials/Licenses City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License Must be in good standing with IUOE Local 399 Must have a valid driver's license in good standing, and maintain the license while employed as an operating engineer Computer Skills proficient in the operation of building automation systems (Delta Controls and Precision Controls System) advanced user of Microsoft office software advanced user of computerized maintenance management software ( ARCHIBUS ) Supervisory Responsibilities No Required operation of university owned vehicles Yes Does this position require direct animal or patient contact?
