We're looking for a full-time, Mechanical Engineer 4, Ventilation to join ou r Day & Zimmermann team located hybrid in either Greenville, SC or Charlotte, NC or fully Remote. As the Mechanical Engineer IV, Ventilation, here's the work you'll do: General Description includes mechanical design and analysis of an assigned scope of work in a project including specific complex deliverables such as HVAC equipment, process ventilation equipment including industrial dust collection and fume capture systems. Additionally, will support the Process Mechanical equipment team for pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, rotating equipment, and all Engineering. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment, mechanical systems, commercial HVAC, and Industrial Ventilation systems. Is able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers. Mentors junior Mechanical, Ventilation, and HVAC Engineers and depending on size and complexity of scope of work, may be assigned as the Mechanical Engineering or Ventilation/HVAC Lead for a project. Maintains and promotes a focus on end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction. Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines. Ensures effective management of change. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control As the Mechanical Engineer 4 here's the work you'll do: Lead and direct others in production of project documents to include Drawings (CAD / BIM), Specifications (editing and checking) and support documents (basis of design). Check work delegated to other engineers and designers on project to ensure scope is documented successfully. Lead construction phase contract administration activities for mechanical, industrial ventilation, and/or HVAC systems on projects such as Submittals, RFIs, construction support, etc. Directly performing, or guiding others, in complex engineering calculations. Develop and monitor project scopes and schedules for applicable discipline and team of Engineers and Designers. Identify changes in scope / schedule and their impact, as they occur. Provide coordination of design efforts with other disciplines and client personnel. Main point of contact to clients for process ventilation, HVAC and/or mechanical equipment project responsibilities (meetings, conference calls, comment review/responses, etc.). Ensure positive client relationships and client service with a focus on winning new work. Supporting business development activities (pursuit opportunities, fee proposals, change modifications). Monitor and ensure design work and documents are correct, consistent with applicable codes, logically presented and constructible. When responsible for work, stamps required project documents as a PE. This role is for you if you have these skills: Exhibits both technical breadth and depth of subject engineering curriculum, demonstrates a broad technical knowledge of mechanical engineering and is able to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to engineers and non-engineers. Knowledgeable in design for HVAC and process ventilation including but not limited to industrial dust collection and fume capture systems; experience applying industry codes and standards, including but not limited to ASHRAE. Ability to work in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other design tools. Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of applications, and the ability to quickly learn and use other software packages. Experience in system airflow analysis and ductwork design and analysis. Strong organizational skills and effective verbal/written communication skills for execution of multiple projects. Experience in effective project execution and project procedures. Ability to supervise and lead the completion of projects (ability to effectively manage project discipline schedule and budget). Experience in the development of the design basis for Capital Cost Estimates, scheduling, cost control, communications, and management of resources. And if you have these qualifications: BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Degree must be ABET accredited, emphasis in HVAC/Ventilation a plus. 12+ years of relevant experience, 5+ years in the EPCm industry a plus. ASHRAE Certification a plus. Professional Engineer registration in Mechanical Engineering required (emphasis in HVAC a plus), with ability to obtain PE registration in other states via exam or comity. US Citizenship Great attitude and team player. Successful completion of background screening process. In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $114,880 - $172,320. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
