The Manufacturing Engineer Principal will direct high level engineering analysis and design of new and modified components and subsystems in accordance with engineering standards and project scope to ensure that designs meet customer requirements, corporate objectives, are safe, and can be manufactured. This role may lead minimal direct reports. YOUR IMPACT These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned. Responsible for completion of a complex project on time. Will be responsible for overall project schedule and budget and manage multiple priorities. Collaborate as needed with other engineering business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally. May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations. Perform and check complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes. Participate in the budgeting process to include recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data as required. Research, study, and propose use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products. Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues. Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures. Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material. Provide subject matter expertise leadership to a large technical staff to ensure program success. Assure designs meet customer requirements, statutory requirements, and corporate objectives. Provide leadership to the Business Unit (BU) engineering group as needed to support BU and Corporate business objectives. This includes the development of a strategic vision for the department as well as providing effective support for all aspects of the organization through the creation of cost effective, innovative products and processes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in operations, engineering, or related field. Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience.
