We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with Consulting Engineering experience who will be able to be part of our preconstruction team working in the Mechanical contracting field. You will be an integral part of the team that interfaces with potential and existing clients to continue to help B&K win new construction projects. The right candidate will be professional and represent B&K to develop deeper relationships with current customers and help us convert prospective new customers to clients. What you'll do: Evaluate design proposals, engineering plans, equipment and specifications for compliance with mechanical engineering standard. Provide engineering design assistance on job proposals. Use your experience to develop estimates as a mechanical contractor. Have the ability to take conceptual designs and narratives and develop detailed estimates. Assist the VDC team in developing model content prior to development of construction documents for proof of concept exercises. Champion all efforts pertaining to the pre-fabrication of racks and modules company-wide, this includes but not limited to associated pricing and constructability analysis, design management and fabrication. Bring with you previous experience, including mechanical design consulting and/or mechanical contracting.(Move this below the next bullet) Interface and work directly with all the different team members involved with the skid/module development, from Facility Owners, Engineering Consultants, General Contractors, Project Managers, VDC Managers, and fabrication foremen. Assist with project research and preliminary design calculations. Be creative,! We are looking for an "outside the box" thinker to assist in providing solutions to complex problems. Have the experience implementing or specifying: Hydronic systems (high purity process, chilled, and hot water) Plumbing Systems Steam and condensate Medical gas Mechanical equipment. Sheet metal ductwork DDC Control Systems Insulation Systems What you'll need (minimum qualifications): BS in Mechanical engineering or equivalent degree/experience required 8+ years of working for an Engineering consultant focused in the mechanical contracting industry. Background in pipe fabrication Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Team Player - Responsive, reliable, and collaborative Ability to provide mentorship to less experienced team members Nice to have: EIT, Certified Plumbing Designer, or Licensed engineer is a plus Experience with Autobid software and Revit Advanced skills in Excel Energy modeling proficiency LEED AP BD+C Certification Certified Energy Manager Lean Manufacturing Proficiency NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
