Who we are looking for: Atkore, a recent recipient of a Great Place to Work certification and a Top Workplace USA award, is currently searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to be based out of Wayne, MI. Reporting to the Tool & Die Manager, this person will be responsible for leveraging mechanical capabilities to improve the velocity and reliability of our manufacturing floor. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus. What you'll do: Design, develop, and enhance systems and equipment in the industrial production process, and leverage mechanical capabilities to improve the velocity and reliability of our manufacturing floor Implement improvements focused on product availability and cost reduction Work closely with shop floor teams to identify areas of waste and opportunities for flow and equipment improvement Provide technical mechanical input and understanding to maintenance, operations, and toolmaking departments, enhancing total preventative maintenance programs on existing machinery Document concepts, designs, and processes and generate written protocols and reports Determine product specifications, evaluating products according to specifications and quality standards to improve or implement manufacturing processes Conduct time and movement studies, review and analyze processes and methods and other work measurements activities What you'll bring: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related field of study 2-4 years' relevant working experience, in a manufacturing environment preferred Experience in CAD, CNC, GD&T, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, TPM/WCM/WCE, and VSM preferred Capacity to perform at a high level in a fast-paced working environment Ability to work under minimal supervision, plan workload, and establish priorities Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal Demonstrate Atkore Core Values - Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, Excellence Must possess a positive attitude, be a team player, and have a strong work ethic Within 3 months, you'll: Complete your Atkore Immersion Program Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy Within 6 months, you'll: Conduct time studies, and recommend changes when needed Develop work instructions for operations and quality checks and design systems for various operations Within 12 months, you'll: Audit and improve plant floor maintenance programs Manage continuous improvement projects, and rectify issues to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and improve efficiency Atkore is a three-time Great Place to Work certified company and a two-time Top Workplaces USA award winner!
