Selectek is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design of DoD C4ISR products, with a focus on display monitors, computers for DoD applications, and cabin management and inflight entertainment systems for private, commercial, and government executive jets. The successful candidate will be a hands-on designer responsible for incorporating proprietary design techniques into rugged products, ensuring design integrity, manufacturability, producibility, and meeting project schedules. Duties/Responsibilities: Design mechanical parts using machined aluminum and bent metal, ensuring they meet or exceed specified requirements. Create mechanical layouts and design concepts for new products using SOLIDWORKS. Collaborate with electrical engineers for proper component placement and cable assembly routing. Demonstrate knowledge of material properties, including metals, plastics, adhesives, and gaskets. Consideration of fastening hardware in design. Implement mechanical design for shock, vibration, and thermal management. Develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, performing tolerances analysis. Evaluate design features and mechanical fit for first article units. Work closely with the engineering team throughout the product design, integration, and testing phases. Collaborate with the Prototype team to build product prototypes for design validation and work instruction development. Coordinate with other divisions and departments as necessary for successful project execution. Create cable drawings and routing documentation. Generate Bill of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, test procedures, and product specifications. Generate engineering change notices (ECNs) and review the work of peers. Provide project cost estimates and select components for various designs. Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline department processes. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. 2+ years of relevant design experience with enclosed mechanical equipment and machined parts. Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS with knowledge of best practices for building models and maintaining libraries. Preferred: Familiarity with DoD standards and mil specs related to manufacturing or a similar highly regulated field. Experience with machine shops and CNC processes. Experience in testing products to mitigate vibration and shock. Hourly Range: $36.00/hr. -$48.00/hr.
