Manufacturing Engineer I San Leandro, CA 94577 Reports to: Plant Manager JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating current manufacturing operations to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and quality enhancements. This role supports Molding and Assembly departments by establishing new setups, troubleshooting processes, and building equipment or fixtures to enhance production efficiency. The engineer also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and supports production planning KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Process Development, Optimization & Efficiency: Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing methods to maximize efficiency and reduce waste Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, and equipment layout to optimize workflows and production processes Implement lean manufacturing techniques, such as 5S, Kaizen, and value stream mapping, to ensure continuous improvements in operations Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by assisting in packaging development and process setup for new products Production Planning & Cost Estimation: Estimate production times, staffing needs, and associated costs to inform management decisions Apply data-driven methods to forecast future manufacturing needs and production capacity Analyze efficiency reports, SPC data, and customer feedback to identify areas for quality and efficiency improvements QA Corrective Actions & Testing: Ensure product and process quality by designing and implementing testing methods to evaluate finished products Establish and maintain manufacturing standards, ensuring process reliability and repeatability Continuously seek ways to improve automation, ergonomics, and tooling to enhance production efficiency and product quality Continuous Improvement & Project Management: Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that drive cost reduction, reduce cycle time, and improve overall efficiency Manage multiple projects, aligning with production needs and ensuring timely completion Provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis to optimize manufacturing operations QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing principles, such as 5S, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement tools Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and project management experience Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are an organization that values diversity.
