Job Brief Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) is seeking to hire a Senior Software Developer to join our UAM (Urban Air Mobility) development team at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. Job Description: Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc.(AMA) is seeking to hire a Senior Software Developer to join our UAM (Urban Air Mobility) development team in support of NASA aeronautics research as part of the Safety-Critical Avionics Systems Branch at the NASA Langley Research Center. The UAM team develops and maintains a suite of software components and services for UAM operations. This software suite is used for simulating complex concepts of operation in support of NASA's vision of UAM: a safe and efficient air transportation system functioning on top of populated areas, supporting a wide range of flights from logistics-supporting to passenger-carrying airborne mobility. AMA is looking for a software developer with a diverse set of skills to join this team to support NASA research. This is an on-site position at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. Responsibilities: The selected candidate is expected to: Work in a highly collaborative in-person environment Apply automated testing techniques to ensure quality standards Develop software artifacts by integrating C, C++, and Python code in Unix-like environments Develop distributed variants of software artifacts by using open-source frameworks Develop TypeScript/JavaScript-based graphical user interfaces to improve the usability of the simulation environment Requirements: Must have a Bachelor of Science, or equivalent degree, in Computer Science or similar discipline Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills Show ability to work within a collaborative development environment Reside in or be willing to relocate to the Hampton Roads area in VA Show proficiency and practical experience in the following topics: C, C++ (> 11), and the Python languages Software development on Unix systems at the command-line (bash, make, ssh, regular expressions) the Git version control system TDD Desired Qualifications: Experience in the following topics will be especially considered in the selection process: Development of simulation software Use of the pandas and plotly Python libraries Use of Cython, Docker, CMake, and MPI U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to facility requirements.
