What You'll Do in This Position SRNS is seeking to hire an experienced HVAC Engineer. This position will report to the Facilities & System Engineering (F&SE) Organization and work as the primary HVAC Engineer on the Training and Operation Center (TOC) for the SRPPF Project. The TOC subproject is to create a training and operation center that contains the same equipment as the SRPPF process line, requires the re-design of an existing building to house the equipment and be able to simulate the environments that are necessary in the process building. The HVAC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the design meets applicable codes, requirements, and is functional for process areas (including gloveboxes with inert atmospheres), "dry air" rooms, as well as general ventilation for the remainder of the building. Primary responsibilities include: * Experience in electrical and building automation system as it relates to HVAC. * Experience in design, installation, startup, and operation of HVAC systems. * Knowledgeable in National Codes and Standards related to HVAC such as ASRHAE, IECC, and NFPA 70. * Knowledgeable on LEED certification. * Perform design reviews to ensure compliance with DOE Orders and SRNS Site Standards and procedures. * Establish technical requirements for development and updating design input/functional criteria documents. * Understanding of HVAC calculations such as air flow, heat loads, etc. * Support the Design Agency providing technical input for design changes or updated functional requirements. * Provide procurement support for specification of HVAC equipment and components. * Detail-oriented for design reviews. * Planning and executing walkdowns and construction support as requested to assure the equipment is installed to meet the specification requirements. * Providing design agencies technical input on design changes required during design/construction phase. * Provide subject matter expertise in HVAC design/operation. * Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers, and articles. * Communicate results and objectives verbally and manuscript form to customers, colleagues, and management. * Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects. * Ensure appropriate technical performance of the end product developed and designed to resolve the original problem. * Plan technical effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments, and sections in focuses areas to solve problems. * Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning where only general objectives are stated. Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. Clearance Required to Perform Job Q Qualifications We Require Bachelor degree in applicable science or engineering discipline Other Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required. Qualifications We Desire HVAC Engineer with demonstrated HVAC subject matter expertise in the nuclear or chemical process industry Experience performing modeling and simulation for HVAC systems. Experience in electrical and building automation system as it relates to HVAC Master degree from accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering with focus in Power Systems Engineering Previous SRS Design Authority Engineering or DOE facility experience is preferred.
