Position Summary: The Design Engineer is responsible for generating and managing concepts, mechanical sketches, and drawings required to effectively fabricate, install and/or commission various types of paint finishing equipment. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Utilize a computer aided design (CAD) system to create drawings - 2D, 3D Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs Travel to local customer sites and participate in field measurements Maintain project schedules Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers and customers Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems Attend and contribute to design review meetings Interpret mechanical drawings Travel approximately 25% Nonessential Functions Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred 5 or more years of experience Familiar with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic piping preferred Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Ability to perform basic engineering calculations Strong skills in math and geometry Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2D, 3D, ReCap, Revit, Navisworks, Micostation a plus Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook Ability to understand and maintain project schedules Good time management skills Good organizational skills Good verbal communication skills Good technical writing skills Good communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customers Able to work well independently and in a team environment Ability to technically define problems and propose solutions Adaptable to change in a learning environment Self-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional manner Willing and able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
