Description Burns & McDonnell's Southwest Region is seeking to hire a Senior Process Engineer with mining experience in our Phoenix, AZ office! The Senior Process Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for greenfield, retrofit and upgrade projects in the mining industry. Burns & McDonnell's market diversity will offer opportunities to support projects for other industrial sectors such as power, water & wastewater treatment, and decarbonization (i.e. green hydrogen production and utilization, carbon capture, and more). As a Senior Process Engineer, you will partner with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting process plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. The idea candidate will act as a seller/doer who will visit perspective clients and assist in the development of proposals to secure new projects. Responsibilities to include: Perform process design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. Modify and review production drawings for process related activities on the mine site including but not limited to: crushing and milling, lime production, calcination, autoclaves, roasters, floatation, SX/EW, CIL, heap leach, effluent treatment plants, cyanide destruction, tails thickening and handling. Design process components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. Apply strong knowledge of commonly used process engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the process engineering services industry. Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of mining process facilities. Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations clients. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. Or Bachelor of Science in Chemical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Masters degree in Chemical Engineering may substitute for 1 year of experience. 7 years of mineral process engineering experience. PE registration or the ability to obtain registration within 1 year preferred. Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of the principles and methods used in complete metallurgical and processing analyses. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills. Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) Strong computer skills include process simulation software. Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
