Position Type: Facilities and Construction/Journeyman Date Posted: 8/15/2024 Location: Maintenance JOB TITLE: FLOORING JOURNEYMAN DUTY DAYS: 240 PAY GRADE: N06 SALARY SCHEDULE: PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for the repair or replacement of all floor surfaces in a manner consistent with PISD standards. QUALIFICATIONS: Certification/Education : High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have a valid Texas driver's license and meet/maintain insurance requirements of PISD. Must pass an initial drug test and be part of a random drug testing program. Must pass a criminal history check. Special Knowledge/ Skills/Experience Must be able to recognize asbestos tile or know which floor material may contain asbestos. Skilled in the maintenance and use of the tools, equipment, and materials of the trade. Minimum five years of flooring experience preferred. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Repair of and installation of ceramic tile. Repair of underlying framing and wallboard needed for ceramic tile installation. Installation of vinyl composition tile, LVT and Carpet, including installation & repair of damaged wooden subfloors. Assist in the installation of all flooring. Must maintain asbestos awareness certificate. Coordinate project assignments with other personnel such as plumbers, electricians, and carpenters as required. Prepare cost estimates for projects. Must have a working knowledge of computer systems in regard to email, work order, and time entry system Must be willing to respond to occasional after-hour emergencies. Perform other duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions Physical Demands/Environment Factors : Strenuous kneeling, stooping, walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting must have use of all faculties. Must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms. Work outside. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials. May work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
